The Bulgarian Open Championship is an annual international badminton championships held in Bulgaria since 1985, by then known as Bulgarian International. It was halted between 1996 and 1998, and in 2000. The tournament belongs to the Badminton Europe elite circuit and become the highest level badminton tournament in Bulgaria. It changed to its current name in 2017, to differentiate it from the second badminton tournament in the country which is now known as Bulgarian International.

Petya Nedelcheva is a Bulgarian badminton player. She was born in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. At the Bulgarian National Badminton Championships she won more than 20 titles.
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is the international governing body for the sport of badminton recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It was founded in 1934 as the International Badminton Federation (IBF) with nine member nations. In 1981 the IBF merged with the World Badminton Federation, and on 24 September 2006, at the Extraordinary General Meeting in Madrid, the name of the organization was changed to Badminton World Federation (BWF).

The Bulgarian National Badminton Championships is a tournament organized to crown the best badminton players in Bulgaria. They are held since 1985. The same year the junior championships and the Bulgarian International started.
Anastasia Vladimirovna Russkikh is an international badminton player from Gatchina, Russia. She entered her first tournament at age 9 in Sweden and finished in third place. She began playing professionally with her local Gatchina Badminton Club as well as a larger Danish club in Skaelskor, Denmark. In 2010, she played for the Vendsyssel Elite Badminton club. Russkikh is one of Russia's top badminton players, and is a high-ranking competitor in women's and mixed-doubles competitions. Together with her partner in women's doubles, Petya Nedelcheva from Bulgaria, she won the silver medal at the 2010 European Badminton Championships.
Lyddia Cheah Li Ya is a Malaysian badminton player. Her younger sister, Soniia Cheah Su Ya is also a professional badminton player. In 2010, she competed at the Commonwealth Games in India.
Linda Zetchiri is a badminton player from Bulgaria. She competed at the 2015 Baku European Games and at the 2016 Summer Olympics Women's singles. She was the bronze medallists at the 2005 European Junior and 2012 European Championships. She is one of the leading Bulgarian players in the sport.

They together have won gold medals in the 2015 European Games and two successive European Championships in 2018 and 2021 editions. Stefani Stoeva has also won some individual titles in women's singles competition.

Choi Sol-gyu is a South Korean badminton player. He has been best known as a mixed doubles player since his back-to-back titles at the Asian Junior Championships in 2012 and 2013. In 2015, she won the Slovenia International tournament in the mixed doubles event partnered with Bastian Kersaudy. In 2016, she won French National Badminton Championships in women's doubles event. She also the runner-up at the Orleans International in the women's doubles event and at the Estonian International in the mixed doubles event. In 2017, she became the runner-up at the Estonian International partnered with Delphine Delrue. She competed at the 2018 Mediterranean Games, clinched the women's doubles gold with Delrue.
Delphine Aurore Delrue is a French badminton player. Delrue started playing badminton at aged seven, and she affiliate with the USEE Badminton club in 2006. Delrue was selected to join the national team in INSEP in 2016. In 2015, she became the runner-up of European University Championships in women's doubles and mixed doubles events. In 2016, she won French National Badminton Championships in women's doubles event with her partner Léa Palermo. She also the runner-up at the Orleans International in the women's doubles event and Swiss International in the mixed doubles event. In 2017, she became the runner-up at the Estonian International partnered with Léa Palermo. She competed at the 2018 Mediterranean Games, clinched the women's doubles gold with Palermo. In 2019, she captured a bronze medal at the European Games in the mixed doubles event with Thom Gicquel. Delrue and Gicquel reached a career high as world number 10 in the BWF World ranking in 9 March 2021.
Rodion Igorevich Alimov is a Russian badminton player. He won the mixed doubles title at the European Junior Championships in 2017 and at the European Championships in 2021.

She was part of the national team that won the silver medal at the 2016 European Women's Team Championships in Kazan, Russia.
Alex Christiaan Vlaar is a Bulgarian badminton player. He was born in Lelystad, the Netherlands his parents also playing badminton. His father Chris Vlaar a Dutch rally car driver and badminton coach, his mother Emilia Dimitrova, née Emmy Vlaar, also a coach even played badminton for Bulgaria at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.

Dominik Stipsits is an Austrian badminton player. Stipsits was born in Korneuburg, and spent his childhood in Stammersdorf, Vienna. He started to playing badminton in 2002, and selected to join the national team in 2013. As a junior player, he competed at the 2012 BWF World Junior Championships and 2013 European Junior Badminton Championships. In 2017, he competed at the World Championships reach in to the second round. He won his first senior international title at the 2017 Bulgarian International tournament in the mixed doubles event partnered with Antonia Meinke.
Christo Popov is a French badminton player who affiliate with Fos club. He was the boys' doubles European U15 and U17 Junior Champions, also won the boys' singles silver medals at the 2018 European and 2019 World Junior Championships. He reached a career high as boys' singles World Junior number 1 in January 2020. He then clinched the boys' singles title at the 2020 European Junior Championships.
