Camptosema is a genus of flowering plants in the legume family, Fabaceae. It includes five species native to South America, ranging from northeastern Brazil to Bolivia and northeastern Argentina. [1] It belongs to the subfamily Faboideae and tribe Diocleae. [2]

The generic name is derived from the Greek words κιθάρα (kithara), meaning "lyre", and ξύλον (xylon), meaning "wood," referring to the use of the wood in the sounding boards of string instruments.
