The Canad Inns Women's Classic is an event on the women's World Curling Tour. It is held at the Portage Curling Club in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. [1]

Contents

The event was formerly the second Grand Slam event of the season on the women's World Curling Tour. It was formerly held in October at the Fort Rouge Curling Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It became a Grand Slam event in 2006, but was removed from the Grand Slam after the 2013–14 curling season. Since 2009, the total prize money to be given out has been $60,000. The event was also known as the "Casinos of Winnipeg Women's Curling Classic" before 2009 and the "Manitoba Lotteries Women's Curling Classic" from 2009 to 2012.

Lawes curled with John Morris in the mixed doubles event at the 2018 Winter Olympics where they won gold. This win made her and Morris the first Canadian curlers to win two Olympic gold medals, and Lawes was the first to win gold in two consecutive Olympics.

Mike McEwen (curler) Canadian curler

Michael McEwen is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba, who grew up in Brandon, Manitoba. McEwen won six Grand Slams in his career before his team qualified for their first Brier, Canada's national championship in 2016. He is noted as one of the top curlers using the Manitoba tuck delivery today.

Emma Kathryn Miskew is a Canadian curler. She is the long-time third of the three-time Canadian champion and 2017 world champion Rachel Homan rink. The Homan team represented Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Brendan "B. J." Neufeld is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Neufeld plays third for the Kevin Koe rink. He started curling around the age of ten and, like older brother Denni Neufeld, cites the achievements of his father as leading his interest into the game of curling. His father is Chris Neufeld who was a three-time Manitoba curling champion and one time Labatt Brier champion in 1992 as part of the Vic Peters team.

Lisa Weagle Canadian curler

Lisa Colleen Weagle is a Canadian curler from Ottawa, Ontario. Weagle was the lead on the Rachel Homan team from 2010 until March 12, 2020 when the team announced they would be parting ways with her. She then joined Team Jennifer Jones for two seasons until the team disbanded on March 15, 2022. Weagle is known for her ability to make the eponymous "Weagle" shot, which the Homan rink had used in high frequency while she was a member of the team.

The 2012 Canad Inns Prairie Classic was held from October 19 to 22 at the Portage Curling Club in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba as part of the 2012–13 World Curling Tour. The event was held in a triple knockout format, and the purse for the event was CAD $58,000, of which the winner, Kevin Koe, received CAD$18,000. Koe defeated Alberta rival Kevin Martin in the final with a score of 9–4.
