The Caparo T1 engine is a high-performance automobile engine originally developed by Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR), and later produced by Menard Competition Technologies (MCT). It was used in the Caparo T1 sports car from 2006 to 2015. The engine is derived from the Nissan VRH35ADE IndyCar engine. [4] [5] [6]
Originally called the Freestream T1, the Caparo T1 roadcar was intended to be powered by a supercharged 2.4-litre V8 that produced 480 bhp (358 kW). [7] [8] [9]
After the project was taken over by Caparo, that engine was abandoned in favour of a naturally-aspirated, 32-valve, 3,494 cc (213.2 cu in) V-8, with cylinder banks at 90°, and a dry-sump oil system. [10] It weighs 116 kg (256 lb). [11] The engine's block and cylinder heads are made of aluminium alloy, and its cylinder liners are of Nikasil-coated aluminium. The crankshaft is machined from steel billet, and is a flat-plane design. The injection system is sequential, with two injectors per cylinder. Each cylinder also has its own throttle butterfly. Actuation of the titanium valves is by finger-follower. [1] The MCT V8 is managed by a fully tunable Pectel SQ6 engine control unit, and uses a throttle-by-wire system. [11] [12] [13] [14] [15]
The production engine generates a maximum power of 575 hp (429 kW; 583 PS) at 10,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 310 lb⋅ft (420 N⋅m ) at 9,000 rpm, [16] giving the car a power-to-weight ratio of 1,223 horsepower per tonne (912.8 kW/t). An engine converted to methanol fuel is reported to have produced 700 hp (522 kW; 710 PS). [17]
In 2009, Caparo announced a high-performance version of the T1 called the Race Extreme, which seemed to retain the 3.5-litre engine base, but which was tuned to produce 625 bhp (466 kW). [18] An even higher output version of the car announced in 2014 was called the Caparo T1 Evolution, with an engine with a claimed output of 700 bhp (522 kW). [19] It is unclear what model engine this version is based on.

The Ultima GTR is a supercar manufactured by Ultima Sports Ltd of Hinckley, Leicestershire, England. The car was available both in kit form and as a "turnkey" vehicle until early 2015, when it was replaced by the Ultima Evolution. The design is mid engined, rear wheel drive layout, with a tubular steel space frame chassis and GRP bodywork. A convertible version called the Ultima Can-Am was also produced. Kit builders were free to source and fit a variety of engines and transmissions but the Chevrolet small block V8 supplied by American Speed mated to either a Porsche or Getrag transaxle was the factory recommended standard, and this configuration was fitted to all turnkey cars.

The BMW M12/13 turbo was a 1,499.8 cc four-cylinder turbocharged Formula One engine, based on the standard BMW M10 engine introduced in 1961, and powered the F1 cars of Brabham, Arrows and Benetton. Nelson Piquet won the FIA Formula One Drivers' Championship in 1983 driving a Brabham powered by the BMW M12/13 turbo. It was the first Drivers' Championship to be won using a turbocharged engine. The engine also powered the BMW GTP and in the 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated form, the successful March Engineering Formula Two cars. BMW engineers estimated the engine produced around 1,400 hp at maximum boost, however the BMW engine dynamometer could not go beyond 1,280 bhp.
The Caparo T1 is a British mid-engine, rear-wheel drive, two-seat automobile that was built by Caparo Vehicle Technologies, founded by design director Ben Scott-Geddes, engineering director Graham Halstead, engineers formerly involved in the development of the McLaren F1 and Sean Butcher, marketing director and financier. The T1 was inspired by Formula One design, and intended as a relatively affordable road legal racing car. The T1 was scheduled for production in mid-2007 for a price of £235,000 with approximately 25 cars per year built.

The GMA is a 4.0-litre, naturally aspirated V12 engine, commissioned by Gordon Murray, and developed and produced by Cosworth for the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 & T.33 sports cars. The road-going engine is rated at 663 PS at 11,500 rpm, with a max torque figure of 467 N⋅m (344 lbf⋅ft) at 9,000 rpm, making it the highest revving road car engine ever produced. The engine is also more powerful than the 6.1 L (6,064 cc) S70/2 V12 engine used in the McLaren F1, making more power from four litres than the S70/2 made from 6.1 litres.
The GPV8 is a 3.5-litre and 3.8-litre, naturally-aspirated V8 engine, originally designed, developed and produced by Cosworth, for the Lotus T125 open-wheel sports car. The initial 3.5-litre V8 produced 640 hp at 9800 rpm, and 332 lb⋅ft (450 N⋅m) at 7600 rpm. The rev limit of the engine is 10,300 rpm; and can be temporarily raised to 10,800 rpm with a push-to-pass button feature. The enlarged 3.8-litre V8 is more powerful, producing 675 hp at 9600 rpm, and 361 lb⋅ft (489 N⋅m) at 7600 rpm, with a redline of 10,000 rpm. The engine's power density is between 136.3 kW and 132.4 kW per litre.

Weslake V12 engine refers to two families of naturally-aspirated, four-stroke, 60° V12 racing engines, both initially designed by Weslake and produced and developed by Weslake and others between 1966 and 1992. The engines were raced in Formula One (F1) and sports car endurance racing, while various plans for Weslake V12-powered road cars all came to nothing.
