The Caparo T1 engine is a 3.5-liter, naturally-aspirated, V-8 racing engine, designed, developed and made by Menard, and used in the Caparo T1 sports car, between 2006 and 2015. The engine itself is derived from the Nissan/Infiniti IndyCar engine, only slightly detuned. [5] [6] [7]

Overview

The T1 sports a 116-kilogram (256 lb), [8] 32-valve, 3,496-cubic-centimetre (3.5 L), all-aluminium, naturally-aspirated, Menard V-8, with cylinder banks mounted at 90°, and lubricated via a dry-sump oil system. [9] The engine has gone through several designs, previously including a smaller 2.4-litre supercharged unit. The production design generates a maximum power of 575 horsepower (429 kW; 583 PS) at 10,500  revolutions per minute and a maximum torque of 310 pound-feet (420  N⋅m ) at 9,000 revolutions per minute, [10] giving the car a power-to-weight ratio of 1,223 horsepower per tonne (912.8 kW/t). In addition, the engine has been reported to successfully reach 700 horsepower (522 kW; 710 PS) on methanol fuel. [11] The engine is controlled via a fully tunable Pectel SQ6 engine control unit and the throttle is controlled via a throttle-by-wire system. [8] [12] [13] [14] [15]

The GMA is a 4.0-litre, naturally aspirated V12 engine, commissioned by Gordon Murray, and developed and produced by Cosworth for the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 & T.33 sports cars. The road-going engine is rated at 663 PS at 11,500 rpm, with a max torque figure of 467 N⋅m (344 lbf⋅ft) at 9,000 rpm, making it the highest revving road car engine ever produced. The engine is also more powerful than the 6.1 L (6,064 cc) S70/2 V12 engine used in the McLaren F1, making more power from four litres than the S70/2 made from 6.1 litres.


The RA is a 6.5-litre, naturally-aspirated V12 engine, commissioned by Adrian Newey, and designed, developed and produced by Cosworth for the Aston Martin Valkyrie sports car. The road-going engine is rated at 1,000 hp at 10,500 rpm, with a max torque figure of 740 N⋅m (546 lbf⋅ft) at 7,000 rpm, making it the most powerful naturally-aspirated engine ever fitted and used in a production road car. The engine also revs to a maximum of 11,100 rpm, and has a power density making 114.8 kW per litre.

The GPV8 is a 3.5-litre and 3.8-litre, naturally-aspirated V8 engine, originally designed, developed and produced by Cosworth, for the Lotus T125 open-wheel sports car. The initial 3.5-litre V8 produced 640 hp at 9800 rpm, and 332 lb⋅ft (450 N⋅m) at 7600 rpm. The rev limit of the engine is 10,300 rpm; and can be temporarily raised to 10,800 rpm with a push-to-pass button feature. The enlarged 3.8-litre V8 is more powerful, producing 675 hp at 9600 rpm, and 361 lb⋅ft (489 N⋅m) at 7600 rpm, with a redline of 10,000 rpm. The engine's power density is between 136.3 kW and 132.4 kW per litre.
