The site is bounded by Vesey Street to the north, the West Side Highway to the west, Liberty Street to the south, and Church Street to the east. The Port Authority owns the site's land. The previous World Trade Center complex stood on the site until it was destroyed in the September 11 attacks.
Daniel Libeskind is a Polish-American architect, artist, professor and set designer. Libeskind founded Studio Daniel Libeskind in 1989 with his wife, Nina, and is its principal design architect.

Designed by Daniel Libeskind, the building sits along the Ohio River across from the Roebling Suspension Bridge. It was commissioned in 2004 and was completed in March 2008 at a cost of approximately $50 million. Many newspapers have associated the Ascent with a trend toward signature architecture for residential buildings.
The Residences at Greenbelt – San Lorenzo Tower is a residential condominium skyscraper in Makati, Philippines. It is the second of three buildings being constructed as part of The Residences at Greenbelt (TRAG) complex, and is the highest of the three. It is the 11th-tallest building in the country and Metro Manila as well with a height of 204.5 metres from the ground to its architectural spire.
The Shang Grand Tower, also known as simply the Shang Tower, is a high-end residential condominium skyscraper located in Makati, Philippines. It was developed by Shang Properties, Inc.. The 46-storey building was opened in 2006 and rises to 180 metres from the ground to its architectural top. It is currently the 10th-tallest complete building in Makati, and is the 19th-tallest building in the country and Metro Manila as well. The 250-unit condominium was the first self-funded residential condominium of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts’ Kuok Group in the country, and all units were sold-out as of 2006.
The St. Francis Shangri-La Place, also known as The St. Francis Towers 1 & 2 are twin-tower residential condominium skyscrapers in Mandaluyong, Philippines. The towers are the 6th and 7th-tallest buildings in the country and Metro Manila as well, and are currently the second tallest twin towers in the Philippines surpassing Pacific Plaza Towers with a height of 212.88 metres from the ground to its architectural spire. It also has two of the most number of floors in the Philippines. The buildings have 60 floors above ground, including a podium which connects the two towers, and 5 basement levels for parking, and are considered as one of the most prestigious residential buildings in the Philippines.
The Manila City Hall is the official seat of government of the City of Manila, located in the historic center of Ermita, Manila. It is where the Mayor of Manila holds office and the chambers of the Manila City Council. It was originally intended to be a part of a national government center envisioned by Daniel Burnham in the 1930s. Although the dream plan was not fully implemented, some buildings for the proposed government center were constructed, including the Old Legislative Building, and the Agriculture and Finance Buildings.
The Alveo Financial Tower formerly known as the JAKA Tower is an office skyscraper under construction in Makati, Philippines. The construction of the tower formerly owned by the JAKA Group of the family of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile commenced in 1996 but was halted in 1998. In 2014 it was acquired by Ayala Land which later through its unit Alveo Land relaunched the tower as the Alveo Financial Tower in 2015.
Construction of New York City's One World Trade Center was deferred until 2006 because of disputes between the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the developer. Tishman Realty & Construction is the selected builder. The building reached ground level on May 17, 2008, and was topped out on May 10, 2013. One World Trade Center opened to tenants on November 3, 2014, and One World Observatory opened to the public on May 28, 2015.
The Twin Towers II was a proposed twin-towered skyscraper complex which would have been located at the World Trade Center site in Manhattan, New York City. The proposed complex would have replaced the former Twin Towers of the World Trade Center destroyed in the September 11 attacks, restoring the skyline of the city to its former state. The main design for the proposed complex would feature new landmark twin towers, nearly identical to the originals designed by Minoru Yamasaki, though it would feature 115 stories—5 floors taller than the originals, among other differences. Beside the towers, an above-ground memorial would have occupied the footprints of the original towers. The new site would also have featured three 12-story buildings, replacing the original 3, 4 and 5 World Trade Center. The complex was designed and developed by American architect Herbert Belton and American engineer Kenneth Gardner, and sponsored by Donald Trump.

The Finance Centre is a premium grade building in Bonifacio Global City, Metro Manila, Philippines. The building's architectural and interior design is a collaboration of GENSLER and AIDEA and was developed by Daiichi Properties & Development, Inc. The office building broke ground on June 5, 2014 and is the landmark building for Daiichi Properties. It is one of few buildings in the Philippines with LEED Gold rating. As of June 2012, the Philippines only has 38 buildings registered for LEED certification.
