Charles Ives Prize

The Charles Ives Awards are scholarships for young composers, awarded annually by the American Academy of Arts and Letters: six scholarships of $7,500, and two fellowships of $15,000. In 1998, the Academy inaugurated the Charles Ives Living, a 2-year, $200,000 award, and in 2008 awarded the inaugural Charles Ives Opera Prize of $50,000. [1]

Christopher Trapani is an American/Italian composer of contemporary classical music. In 2007 he won the Gaudeamus Award of the Dutch Gaudeamus Foundation. A CD of his music, Waterlines, was released in 2018. A second release of Waterlines by the Ictus Ensemble was named one of the top 5 classical releases of 2020 by De Standaard. In 2021–2022 he was a visiting assistant professor at the Thornton School of Music of the University of Southern California.

Thomas Kotcheff is an American composer and pianist who currently resides in Los Angeles. He is a winner of a 2016 Charles Ives Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and a 2015 Presser Foundation Music Award. He composed and orchestrated music for the soundtrack of the 2023 film Oppenheimer by Christopher Nolan which won the Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards and the Best Original Score at the 96th Academy Awards.

Yu-Hui Chang, born in Taichung, Taiwan, is a Taiwanese composer based in the United States. She received awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2009, and the Arts and Letters Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2017. She is the Victor and Gwendolyn Beinfield Professor of Music at Brandeis University.

Justin Dello Joio,(born October 18, 1955, in New York City) is an American composer and the fifth-generation composer in the Dello Joio family.
