Chaunggauk [1] is a village in Kalaw Township, Taunggyi District, Shan State, of Burma (Myanmar). It lies in the Inle Valley north of Inle Lake.

Inle Lake, a freshwater lake located in the Nyaungshwe Township of Taunggyi District of Shan State, part of Shan Hills in Myanmar (Burma). It is the second largest lake in Myanmar with an estimated surface area of 44.9 square miles (116 km2), and one of the highest at an elevation of 2,900 feet (880 m). During the dry season, the average water depth is 7 feet (2.1 m), with the deepest point being 12 feet (3.7 m), but during the rainy season this can increase by 5 feet (1.5 m).

Yawnghwe, known as Nyaungshwe in Burmese, was a Shan state in what is today Myanmar. It was one of the most important of the Southern Shan States. Yawnghwe state included the Inle Lake. The Intha are members of a Tibeto-Burman ethnic group living around Inle Lake. They speak an archaic dialect of Burmese and are believed to have come from the Dawei area. They often live on Inle Lake and support themselves through the tending of vegetable farms on floating gardens. Inlay Lake Wetland Sanctuary

Inlay Lake Wetland Sanctuary is a wildlife reserve located in Inlay Lake of Shan State, Burma. It occupies an area of 642.32 square miles (1,660 km2) and was established in 1985 and designated as one of ASEAN Heritage Parks in 2003. It is part of 1891 square miles wide Inle World Network of Biosphere Reserves site. It located between 20° 10' N and 97° 02' E in Nyaungshwe, Pinlaung and Pekon Township of Taunggyi District. Its elevation is over 2,900 feet.

Yunnanilus brevis, common name Inle loach, is a species of ray-finned fish in the genus Yunnanilus, although some authorities place it in the genus Petruichthys. It is only found in Inle Lake and the adjacent He-Ho Plain in the Southern Shan States in Myanmar. It is a demersal fish which occurs in still and slow running waters as well as in a shallow lake, with dense submerged and floating vegetation.
