Chestnut Hall, formerly known as Hotel Pennsylvania, is a 10-story building composed of 315 apartments as well as retail space in University City, Philadelphia. It is owned by Apartment Income REIT Corp., which is owned by funds managed by The Blackstone Group. It is primarily occupied by university students.
It is designed in the Renaissance Revival architecture style. The building consists of a steel structure, a cement and brick facade, and an entablature with accompanying cornice along the top.
The property was designed by Clarence E. Wunder, and was built in 1922. [1]
The building served as the Hotel Pennsylvania. In the 1940s, it became known as the Hotel Philadelphian. [2]
It was sold to Sheraton Hotels in December 1946, [3] and was renamed the Penn-Sheraton Hotel. Sheraton sold the hotel to Hertfield Hotels in October 1953, [4] and they renamed the Penn-Sheraton very slightly, [5] changing it to the Penn Sherwood Hotel. [1] In 1962, the hotel rejoined Sheraton as a franchise, operating as the Sheraton Motor Inn until 1966. As of 2005, the property was managed by Aimco. [6] In June 2006, Aimco bought a majority stake of the property. In 2020, it was contributed to Apartment Income REIT Corp., which was acquired by funds managed by The Blackstone Group.

The Plaza Hotel is a luxury hotel and condominium apartment building in Midtown Manhattan in New York City. It is located on the western side of Grand Army Plaza, after which it is named, just west of Fifth Avenue, and is between 58th Street and Central Park South, at the southeastern corner of Central Park. The St. Regis New York is a luxury hotel at 2 East 55th Street, at the southeast corner with Fifth Avenue, in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. The hotel was originally developed by John Jacob Astor IV and was completed in 1904 to designs by Trowbridge & Livingston. The Hotel Pennsylvania was a hotel at 401 Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, across from Pennsylvania Station and Madison Square Garden. Opened in 1919, it was once the largest hotel in the world. It remained the city's fourth-largest until it closed permanently on April 1, 2020. After years of unsuccessful preservation battles, it was demolished in 2023. The hotel is to be replaced by 15 Penn Plaza, a 68-story tower.

Herald Towers, formerly the Hotel McAlpin, is a residential condominium building on Herald Square, along Broadway between 33rd and 34th Streets, in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. Constructed from 1910 to 1912 by the Greeley Square Hotel Company, it operated as a short-term hotel until 1976. The building was designed by Frank Mills Andrews in the Italian Renaissance style and was the largest hotel in the world at the time of its completion, with 1,500 guestrooms. The hotel was expanded in 1917, when Warren and Wetmore designed an annex with 200 rooms.

The Ritz Tower is a luxury residential building at 465 Park Avenue on the corner of East 57th Street in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. It was built from 1925 to 1926 as an apartment hotel and was designed by Emery Roth and Thomas Hastings for journalist Arthur Brisbane, who was the developer. The Ritz Tower is about 541 feet (165 m) with 41 stories, making it the tallest residential building in New York City upon its completion. Because it was initially classified as an apartment hotel, the building was constructed to a greater height than was usually permitted.
