The Chief of Staff of the Portuguese Navy (Portuguese : Chefe do Estado-Maior da Armada, acronym: C.E.M.A.) is the head of the Portuguese Navy and of the Maritime Authority System. The CEMA depends on the Minister of National Defense in terms of resources, and on the Army Chief of Staff for preparation and deployment. [1] The current Chief is Admiral Henrique Gouveia e Melo, since 27 December 2021.

The Brazilian Armed Forces are the unified military forces of the Federative Republic of Brazil. Consisting of three service branches, it comprises the Brazilian Army, the Brazilian Navy and the Brazilian Air Force.
The Portuguese Armed Forces are the military of Portugal. They include the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the other unified bodies and the three service branches: Portuguese Navy, Portuguese Army and Portuguese Air Force.

The Vasco da Gama class is a class of frigates of the Portuguese Navy. Named in honor of the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama, the ships are based on the German MEKO 200 design, and are Portugal's major surface ships. Portugal operates three ships of this class, which were built in Hamburg by Blohm + Voss (B&V) and by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft (HDW) in Kiel, using modular construction techniques.
The Chief of the Joint General Staff of the Armed Forces is the professional head of the Brazilian Armed Forces, who is responsible for the centralizes the coordination and control of the three branches: Army, Navy and Air Force. The position was created through the Complementary Law No. 136 of 25 August 2010, and is guided by Ordinance No. 1429.
General José Carlos de Nardi, is the former Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Brazil. De Nardi was sworn in as the first Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces by then-Defense Minister Nelson Jobim on 6 September 2010. On 8 December 2015, Admiral Ademir Sobrinho was sworn in as the second Chief of the Joint Staff by Defense Minister Aldo Rebelo.

The Armed Forces General Staff, or EMGFA, is the supreme military body of Portugal. It is responsible for the planning, command and control of the Portuguese Armed Forces.
