Christopher Young (born April 28, 1958) is an American composer of film and television scores. [1]
Many of his compositions are for horror and thriller films, including Hellraiser , Species , Urban Legend , The Grudge , The Exorcism of Emily Rose , Drag Me to Hell , Sinister , Deliver Us from Evil and Pet Sematary . Other works include Rapid Fire , Copycat , Set It Off , Entrapment , The Hurricane , Swordfish , Ghost Rider , Spider-Man 3 , and The Shipping News, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score.
Young was honored with the prestigious Richard Kirk award at the 2008 BMI Film and TV Awards. The award is given annually to a composer who has made significant contributions to film and television music. [2]
Young was born in Red Bank, New Jersey. [3] He graduated from Hampshire College in Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts in music, and then completed his post-graduate work at the University of North Texas.
In 1980, he moved to Los Angeles. Originally a jazz drummer, when he heard some of Bernard Herrmann's works he decided to become a film composer. He studied at the UCLA Film School under David Raksin. He teaches at the Thornton School of Music of the University of Southern California. [4]

Trevor Alfred Charles Jones is a South African composer of film and television scores, who has worked primarily in the United Kingdom.
John Towner Williams is an American composer and conductor. In a career that has spanned seven decades, he has composed some of the most popular, recognizable, and critically acclaimed film scores in cinema history. He has a distinct sound that mixes romanticism, impressionism and atonal music with complex orchestration. He is best known for his collaborations with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas and has received numerous accolades including 26 Grammy Awards, five Academy Awards, seven BAFTA Awards, three Emmy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards. With 54 Academy Award nominations, he is the second-most nominated person, after Walt Disney, and is the oldest Oscar nominee in any category, at 92 years old.
Hans Florian Zimmer is a German film score composer and music producer. He has won two Oscars, four Grammys, and has been nominated for three Emmys and a Tony. Zimmer was also named on the list of Top 100 Living Geniuses, published by The Daily Telegraph in 2007.

Donald Romain Davis is an American composer, conductor, and orchestrator known for his film and television scores. He has also composed opera, concert and chamber music. Randy Edelman is an American musician, producer, and composer for film and television. He began his career as a member of Broadway's pit orchestras; he later produced solo albums for songs that were picked up by leading music performers including The Carpenters, Barry Manilow, and Dionne Warwick. Thomas Kotcheff is an American composer and pianist who currently resides in Los Angeles. He is a winner of a 2016 Charles Ives Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and a 2015 Presser Foundation Music Award. He composed and orchestrated music for the soundtrack of the 2023 film Oppenheimer by Christopher Nolan which won the Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards and the Best Original Score at the 96th Academy Awards.
