The Clifton Cantonment (Urdu : کلفٹن چھاؤنی) is a cantonment town within the city of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. [2] [3]

Contents

It serves as a military base and residential establishment. It was established by the British Indian Army during 19th century British India, and was taken over by the Pakistan Army in 1947. The cantonment maintains its own infrastructure of water supply and electricity, and is outside of the jurisdiction of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. Cantonment Board Clifton provides municipal services.

Many prominent scholars and well-known writers of Pakistan live in this area including Fatima Surayya Bajia, a playwright of many popular drama serials on Pakistan Television. She was laid to rest at Gizri graveyard after she died on 10 Feb 2016 at age 85. Her younger brother Anwar Maqsood Hameedi, who also is a major TV personality in Pakistan, led the funeral arrangements and her burial. Gizri also has the headquarter of Kyokushin Karate Club and the head of it was Sir Inamullah Khan.

Lahore Cantonment is a garrison located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Although the cantonment is located within Lahore City District, it is an independent municipality under control of the Military Lands & Cantonments Department of the Ministry of Defence.
