The Davis County Courthouse in Bloomfield, Iowa, United States was built in 1877. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Two years later it was listed as a contributing property in the Bloomfield Square historic district. The courthouse is the second building to house court functions and county administration.
Liggett and Myers Tobacco Company is a historic factory building located at Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia, USA. The original building was constructed in 1917 and is a four-story, red brick, Commercial Style warehouse building, measuring 140 by 80 feet. At the rear of the building is an addition built in 1920. It is a two-story, red brick, Commercial Style warehouse building, measuring 210 by 80 feet. Also on the property is the redrying plant, built in 1910. It is a long, one story brick industrial building with a gable roof. The complex was built by the Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company as a tobacco warehouse and cigarette factory.
Stover–Winger Farm, also known as Tayamentasachta, is a historic farm complex located at Antrim Township in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. The house was built in the 1840s or 1850s, and is a two-story, four-bay, "T"-shaped, brick dwelling. It has a two-story, three-bay brick cased log wing. It has a one-story, shed-roofed porch along three sides. Also on the property are a contributing brick beehive oven, brick end bank barn built in 1849 and rebuilt in 1876 after a fire, frame wagon shed, and metal "Stover Wind Engine". The farm was purchased by the Greencastle-Antrim School District in 1966. The property includes the spring named Tayamentasachta, a favorite camp site for the Delaware Indians.
Bachman and Forry Tobacco Warehouse is a historic tobacco warehouse located at Columbia in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It was built between 1893 and 1895, and is a 3 1/2-story, rectangular brick building with a gable roof. It sits on a stone foundation and measures 54 feet by 85 feet.
Eby Shoe Corporation, also known as Fleet-Air Corporation, is a historic factory building complex located at Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The property includes three contributing buildings to the listing. Building "A" was built about 1900, and is a four-story, gable roofed brick building with a two-story flat roofed addition. Building "B" was built in 1919-1920, and is a three-story, gable roofed brick building measuring 48 feet wide and 115 feet deep. Building "C" was built in 1923, and is a four-story, steel frame building with a brick exterior. It measures 48 feet wide and 180 feet deep. The Eby Shoe Corporation closed in 1985.
American/Consolidated Tobacco Companies, also known as Domestic Tobacco Co., is set of two historic tobacco warehouses located at Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It was built between 1907 and 1910, and are brick buildings on stone foundations. They are set parallel to one another, 25 feet apart. The south building is three stories tall and measures 70 feet wide by 220 feet deep. An addition was built about 1925, making the total depth 300 feet. The north building is two stories, 50 feet wide by 300 feet deep. It was expanded to its current size about 1925.
Follmer, Clogg and Company Umbrella Factory, also known as Van Sciver Building, is a historic factory building located at Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It was built between about 1880 and 1905, and is a "U"-shaped, brick complex measuring approximately 144 feet by 250 feet. It housed Follmer, Clogg and Company, a manufacturer of umbrellas and parachutes, until the 1940s. In 1944, it was acquired by the Van Sciver Furniture Company and housed a furniture store, warehouse, and repair shop until 1982.
Sprenger Brewery, also known as the Excelsior Brewery Complex, is a historic brewery complex located at Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The complex consists of five buildings and an open area. The Excelsior Hall was built in 1873, and is a four-story, measuring 33 feet by 105 feet. It features a Victorian storefront that once housed the brewery saloon and a restored heavy, sculptural mansard roof in the Second Empire style. The remaining buildings are a two-story building with stone basement vaults built about 1857; a 49 feet by 69 feet infill building built about 1910; a Victorian warehouse measuring 44 feet, 6 inches, by 88 feet, 6 inches; and a two-story, brick stable.
Teller Brothers–Reed Tobacco Historic District is a historic cigar factory and tobacco warehouse complex and national historic district located at Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It includes five contributing buildings, built between about 1865 and 1900. They are the John F. Reed & Co. Cigar Factory, J.R. Bitner Tobacco Warehouse, Lancaster Paint Works, and two warehouses associated with the Teller Brothers, built about 1877 and 1885. All five buildings are brick buildings over stone foundations, 2 1/2- to 4 stories tall, and used for the processing and storage of cigar leaf tobacco.
North Charlotte Street Historic District is a historic tobacco warehouse complex and national historic district located at Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It includes 10 contributing buildings, built between about 1876 and about 1920. Six of the buildings were built about 1876 by John DeHaven. The remaining buildings are the C.G. Schubert Tobacco Warehouse ; Henry Martin Brick Machine Company ; and the General Cigar Company. All 10 buildings are brick buildings, 2 to 4 1⁄2 stories tall, and 8 of the 10 were used for the processing and storage of cigar leaf tobacco. Some exhibit Colonial Revival style details.
Warren County Courthouse is a historic county courthouse located at Warren, Warren County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1876–1877, and is a 2 1/2-story, brick and sandstone building in the Second Empire style. It has a slate covered mansard roof. It measures 72 feet by 122 feet, and has a large 4-sided dome topped by a square clock tower and statue of justice.
The Pitcairn Building, also known as the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company Building, is a historic warehouse and light manufacturing loft building located at 1027 Arch Street at the corner of N. 11th Street in the Chinatown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was designed by noted Philadelphia architects G. W. & W. D. Hewitt and built in 1901. It is an eight-story, steel frame building clad in brick and granite with terra cotta details. The building measures approximately 74 feet wide and 172 feet deep. It was originally built as a regional distribution center for the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. It later housed a clothing manufacturer, H. Daroff and Sons, who originated the "Botany 500" brand.
Terminal Commerce Building, also known as the North American Building, is a historic building complex located in the Callowhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built between 1929 and 1931 by the Reading Company, and is a combined office, showroom, parking garage, warehouse and freight station totaling over 1.3 million square feet. It measures 528 feet by 225 feet. The front section houses offices, and is a 14-story, reinforced concrete, brick and terra cotta faced building in the Art Deco style. The front facade has a central tower with terra cotta ornamentation that houses water tanks. The rear warehouse section is 12-stories and is "H"-shaped.
Armstrong County Courthouse and Jail is a historic courthouse complex located at Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. The courthouse was built between 1858 and 1860, and is a two-story, brick and stone building measuring 105 feet by 65 feet. It has a hipped roof topped by an octagonal cupola and bell. It features a portico with four Corinthian order columns in Greek Revival style. A three-story rear addition was built in 1951-1953. The jail building was built between 1870 and 1873. It is constructed of stone, brick, and iron, and measures 114 feet by 50 feet, with a 96 feet tall tower. The building once housed 24, 8 foot by 13 foot cells.
John F. Lutz Furniture Co. & Funerary is a historic building complex located at St. Lawrence, Berks County, Pennsylvania. The complex consists of a combination house / shop, warehouse / showroom, and carriage house. The combination house / shop was built in 1878, and is a two-story, brick and frame building in the Italianate style. Two small two-story, frame additions were built in 1885 and 1910. The John F. Lutz Furniture warehouse / showroom building was built in 1900, and is a four-story building also in the Italianate style. A four-story brick addition was built in 1928 and a two-story, concrete block addition in 1955. The two-story, brick carriage house was built in 1896. It is also in the Italianate style. John F. Lutz (1863-1936) was a furniture maker, who also built coffins. As such, he also learned to be an undertaker and operated a funerary business. The John F. Lutz Co. remained in business until 1968, after which a furniture outlet occupied the warehouse / showroom building until 1990.
Ship Inn is a historic inn and tavern located in West Whiteland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1796, and is a two-story, six bay, Georgian style stone building with brick chimneys. The main block measures 50 feet by 37 feet, with a rear kitchen wing measuring 29 feet by 20 feet. It remained in operation as an inn until 1854. In the 20th century, a restaurant opened in the building.
Sharples Separator Works, also known as the Gumas Warehouse and Kauffman Warehouse, is a historic factory complex located in West Chester, Chester County, Pennsylvania. The complex was built between 1890 and 1909, and includes 14 contributing buildings. They range between one and three stories, are of brick construction, and have low pitched gable roofs or hipped roofs. It was home to the manufacturing works for the Sharples Tubular Centrifugal Separator, the first American invented cream separator.
Brookside Farm and Mill is a historic grist mill and farm complex located at Independence, Grayson County, Virginia. The Brookside Mill was built in 1876, and is a three-story, three bay by three bay, heavy timber frame building measuring 30 feet by 35 feet. The principal dwelling was built in 1877, and is a two-story, three bay, frame building with a central passage plan. Other contributing buildings and structures include a brick spring house, brick smokehouse, log corn crib, frame hen house, miller's cabin, the miller's cottage or Graham House, a frame service station / garage (1918), and concrete dam (1914) and earthen mill race.
Southern Stove Works, Manchester is a historic factory complex located in Richmond, Virginia that replaced the company's original factory. The complex includes two contributing prefabricated steel frame buildings built in 1920. The west building contains the original two-story office building that has been connected by one-story infill to the long one-story warehouse building that contained the pressing and mounting departments and a three-part warehouse. The office is a five-by-three-bay, two-story, building measuring 40 by 80 feet and brick curtain walls. The east building today consists of the foundry with attached original washrooms and office, charging room, and an expanded mill room.
The Cheyenne Flour Milling Company, also known as the Standard Oil Company and Salt Creek Freightways, is an early warehouse building in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The structure was built in 1927 to house goods brought to and from Cheyenne by the Union Pacific Railroad in an industrial section of Cheyenne as a flour mill, replacing structures that had performed similar functions since 1915. By 1931 the building was shared by a warehouse for electrical parts for the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company, a potato chip factory and a chemical products company. In 1937-38 the Standard Oil Company started to use the warehouse for bulk petroleum products storage, continuing to 1963. From 1963 the building was used by Salt Creek Freightways, which had shared use from 1936. In 1973 it became a plumbing parts warehouse, and by 2003 was owned and used by a general contractor.
