The 2008 Conwy Council election took place on 1 May 2008 to elect members of Conwy County Borough Council in Wales. [1] [2] It was on the same day as other United Kingdom local elections, 2008. The previous elections took place on 10 June 2004 and the following election took place on 3 May 2012.

Fifty nine county councillors were elected from the county's thirty eight electoral wards. The biggest gains were by the Conservative Party with eight additional seats, while the Labour Party and Independent group lost out. [1] There were several very close results, with the Conservatives winning in Capelulo by 26 votes, the sitting veteran Labour councillor in Llandudno's Tudno losing by 27 votes and the Independent councillor in Llansannan winning by only four votes. [1] Similarly to the previous Conwy elections in 1995, 1999 and 2004, no party or group ended in overal majority control. [2]

Llandudno seaside resort in Wales

Llandudno is a seaside resort, town and community in Conwy County Borough, Wales, located on the Creuddyn peninsula, which protrudes into the Irish Sea. In the 2011 UK census, the community, which includes Gogarth, Penrhyn Bay, Craigside and Penrhynside, had a population of 20,701. The town's name is derived from its patron saint, Saint Tudno.

Tudno (electoral ward)

Marl is the name of one of the electoral wards in the community of Conwy, Conwy County Borough, Wales. It elects representatives to Conwy County Borough Council and Conwy Town Council. The Marl ward covers part of the town of Llandudno Junction to the east of the River Conwy and is one of four county wards included within the boundaries of the community. The wards of Deganwy and Pensarn border Marl, also to the east of the river. Conwy ward lies on the opposite side of the river, including the walled town of Conwy. To the north of Marl is the Llandudno ward of Penrhyn.

Gele is the name of one of the electoral wards in the town and community of Abergele, Conwy County Borough, Wales. It covers the southern part of the town and a more rural area to the southeast including the settlement of St George. It takes its name from the River Gele which runs through the western part of the ward.
