The Dallara IR-7, and its evolutions, the Dallara IR-8 and Dallara IR-9, are open-wheel formula racing cars, designed, developed, and produced by Italian manufacturer Dallara for use in the IndyCar Series, between 1997 and 1999. [2]

Unveiled at the end of 1993, at the behest of amateur racer Giampiero Moretti, the 333 SP marked Ferrari's official return to sports car racing after a 20-year absence. He co-drove in the 2006 International Race of Champions in the United States with Angelelli. Taylor now owns and manages his own team competing in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The IndyCar Series, currently known as the NTT IndyCar Series under sponsorship, is the highest class of American open-wheel car racing in the United States, which has been conducted under the auspices of various sanctioning bodies since 1920 after two initial attempts in 1905 and 1916. The series is self-sanctioned by its parent company, IndyCar, LLC., which began in 1996 as the Indy Racing League (IRL) and was created by then Indianapolis Motor Speedway owner Tony George as a competitor to Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART). In 2008, the IndyCar Series merged with CART's successor, the Champ Car World Series and the history and statistics of both series, as well as those from its predecessors, were unified.

The 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series was the 17th season of the IndyCar Series, and the 101st season of American open wheel racing. Its premier event was the 96th Indianapolis 500, held on Sunday, May 27. The series was sanctioned by IndyCar, and took place in three countries on two continents. Chevrolet returned to the series for the first time since 2005 while Lotus debuted, with the later leaving the IndyCar Series after the 2012 season due to poor performance.

The Dallara DW12 is an open-wheel formula racing car developed and produced by Italian manufacturer Dallara for use in the IndyCar Series. It was developed for use in the 2012 IndyCar Series season, replacing the aging Dallara IR-05 chassis and scheduled to be used until the 2026 season before being replaced by planned Dallara IR-27 from 2027 season onwards. The chassis is named after Dan Wheldon, who was the car's test driver, and who was killed at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 16, 2011, the final race of the previous IR-05.

The V8 was a highly successful IndyCar Series engine from 2003 to 2011 season before being replaced by Honda Indy V6 for the following season.
