Dancing with the Stars is an Irish reality television series, airing on RTÉ One that started on 8 January 2017, [1] hosted by Amanda Byram and Nicky Byrne. [2] The show is based on the original UK version, and is part of the Dancing with the Stars franchise. [3] The judging panel consists of Julian Benson, Loraine Barry and Brian Redmond. [4] [5]

Couples

In November 2016, it was reported that former Big Brother contestant, Hughie Maughan, would be participating in the competition. [6] On 20 November 2016, it was reported that former RTÉ News reader, Teresa Mannion will be taking part in the series. [7]

Des Bishop was confirmed as the first celebrity on 9 December 2016, during an appearance on The Late Late Show ; RTÉ later confirmed he would be taking part in the series on Twitter. [8] On 11 December 2016, former Fair City actress Aoibhín Garrihy, Red Rock actress Denise McCormack and model Thalia Heffernan were confirmed to take part in the series. [9] [10] On 12 December 2016, RTÉ confirmed the remaining seven contestants. [11] Later that week, the professional dancing line-up was confirmed. [12]

Julian Benson is a talent agent, choreographer and is also known for his role as a former judge on the RTÉ One series, Dancing with the Stars.

Loraine Barry is a former professional dancer and also known for her role as Head judge on the RTÉ One series, Dancing with the Stars.

Brian Redmond is best known for his starring role in the judging hotseat on RTÉ One series, Dancing with the Stars. An integral part of the show's team from the very first episode, Brian was hired to be the "Simon Cowell" character of the show.

Dancing with the Stars returned for a second series on 7 January 2018 on RTÉ One. Loraine Barry, Brian Redmond and Julian Benson returned to the judging panel for a second year, while Amanda Byram and Nicky Byrne also returned as hosts.

Dancing with the Stars returned for a third series on 6 January 2019 on RTÉ One for a twelve-week run.

Kai Widdrington is an English dancer and choreographer. In 2010, he was the Junior World Latin American champion. In 2012, he reached the final of the sixth series of Britain's Got Talent. Between 2017 and 2020, he was a professional dancer on the Irish version of Dancing with the Stars, and in 2021, he became a professional dancer on the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing.

Ryan McShane is a Northern Irish dancer and choreographer. He, alongside his professional partner, Ksenia Zsikhotska, were the 2016 United Kingdom & British Latin Professional Champions and British Show Dance Champions. He is also known as being one of the professional dancers on the Irish version of Dancing with the Stars.

Ksenia Zsikhotska is a Ukrainian dancer and choreographer. She is best known for her role as a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars. She, alongside professional partner, Ryan McShane, were the 2016 United Kingdom & British Latin Professional Champions & British Show Dance Champions.

Dancing with the Stars returned for a fourth series which began on 5 January 2020 on RTÉ One.

The seventeenth season of the Australian Dancing with the Stars debuted on 9 February 2020. Grant Denyer and Amanda Keller returned as hosts, while Sharna Burgess, Craig Revel Horwood, and Tristan MacManus returned to the judging panel.

The eleventh season of Danse avec les stars,, premiered in September 2021 on TF1, hosted by Camille Combal.

Dancing with the Stars returned for a fifth series on 9 January 2022 on RTÉ One. This was the first series in two years after the show was put on a year-long hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ninth series of Dancing with the Stars premiered on 24 April 2022 on Three.

The twelfth season of Danse avec les stars premiered in September 2022 on TF1, hosted by Camille Combal.

Dancing with the Stars returned for a sixth series on 8 January 2023 on RTÉ One.

Dancing with the Stars returned for a seventh series on 7 January 2024 on RTÉ One.
