David Robert Malvern Monteith (born 5 June 1968) is a Northern Irish Anglican priest in the Church of England and is the current Dean of Canterbury, the senior canon of Canterbury Cathedral. He was previously the Dean of Leicester since his appointment in May 2013 until 2022.
Monteith was born on 5 June 1968 in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland.  He was educated at Portora Royal School, a grammar school in Enniskillen.  He studied zoology at the University of Durham, where he was a member of St John's College, and he graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in 1989.  
In 1990, Monteith entered St John's College, Nottingham, an Anglican theological college, to train for ordained ministry. During this time, he also studied theology at the University of Nottingham, and graduated with a Bachelor of Theology (BTh) degree in 1992.  He then studied for a Master of Arts (MA) degree in mission and ministry, completing it in 1993. 
Monteith was ordained in the Church of England as a deacon in 1993 and as a priest in 1994.  From 1993 to 1997, he served his curacy at All Saints' Church, Kings Heath in the Diocese of Birmingham.  He then joined the staff of St Martin-in-the-Fields, City of Westminster in the Diocese of London, where he was an assistant curate from 1997 to 2000 and an associate vicar from 2000 to 2002.  
In 2002, Monteith moved to the Diocese of Southwark to become Priest-in-Charge of Holy Trinity Church, Wimbledon.  He was also Area Dean of Merton between 2004 and 2009.  In 2009, there was a reorganisation of parishes in the area, and Holy Trinity joined with two other churches to form the Parish of Merton Priory.  Monteith served for a short time as the parish's team rector. 
In 2009, Monteith moved to Leicester Cathedral, where he served as canon chancellor from 2009 to 2013.  On 18 May 2013, he was installed as dean of the cathedral, and as such he is the most senior priest in the Diocese of Leicester.   
On 11 October 2022, it was announced that the late Queen Elizabeth II had approved Monteith's nomination for election as Dean of Canterbury, and he was appointed by her successor King Charles III on 7 November 2022;  his institution took place on 17 December 2022. 
In 2008, Monteith entered into a civil partnership with David Hamilton.   In a short church biography, Monteith "shares his life in a Civil Partnership with David Hamilton." 
Godfrey William Ernest Candler Ashby is a British Anglican bishop, theologian, and academic. From 1980 to 1985, he was the eighth Bishop of St John's in the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. From 1988 to 1995, he was the Assistant Bishop of Leicester in the Church of England.
Paul Gavin Williams is a Church of England bishop. Since May 2015, he has been the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham; from 2009 to 2015, he was the Bishop of Kensington, an area bishop in the Diocese of London.
John Edward Holbrook is a Church of England bishop. He is the Bishop of Brixworth in the Diocese of Peterborough. He also is currently serving as acting diocesan Bishop of Peterborough. He had been Rural Dean of Wimborne in the Diocese of Salisbury and served as Acting Bishop of Leicester.
Jonathan Lee Draper is an American Anglican priest, theologian, and academic. Since 2017, he has been the general secretary of Modern Church. From 2012 to 2017, he was the dean of Exeter, at Exeter Cathedral in the Church of England Diocese of Exeter.
Ruth Elizabeth Worsley, is a Church of England bishop. Since September 2015, she has been the Bishop of Taunton, a suffragan bishop of the Diocese of Bath and Wells. From 2013 to 2015, she was Archdeacon of Wiltshire.

Simon David Burton-Jones is a British Anglican bishop. He has been the Bishop of Tonbridge, the suffragan bishop of the Diocese of Rochester, since his consecration on 3 July 2018; he was previously the Archdeacon of Rochester.
Joanne Kelly-Moore is a New Zealand Anglican priest who has been the Dean of St Albans since 2021. She was previously the Dean of Auckland in the Anglican Church of New Zealand from 2010 to 2017, and then Archdeacon of Canterbury in the Church of England.
Helen-Ann Macleod Hartley is a British Anglican bishop and academic who has served as the Bishop of Newcastle since 2023. She previously served as Bishop of Waikato in New Zealand from 2014 to 2017 and area Bishop of Ripon in the Diocese of Leeds from 2018 to 2023. She was the first woman to have trained as a priest in the Church of England to join the episcopate, and the third woman to become a bishop of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia.
Robert James "Rob" Wickham is a British Anglican bishop. Since September 2015, he has been the area Bishop of Edmonton; he has also served part-time as Acting Bishop of Portsmouth.
Michael Robert Harrison is a Church of England bishop. Since February 2016, he has been the Bishop of Dunwich, a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich. He was consecrated a bishop on 24 February 2016. From 2006 to 2016, he was the Director of Mission and Ministry in the Diocese of Leicester.
Joanna Susan Penberthy is a Welsh Anglican bishop. Since November 2016, she has served as the Bishop of St Davids in the Church in Wales. She was the first woman to become a bishop in the Church in Wales, when she was consecrated a bishop on 21 January 2017.
Guy Charles Elsmore is a British Anglican priest. Since July 2016, he has served as the Archdeacon of Buckingham in the Diocese of Oxford.
Jacqueline Ann "Jackie" Searle is a British Anglican bishop. Since 2018, she has served as the Bishop of Crediton, a suffragan bishop of the Diocese of Exeter. She had previously been the Archdeacon of Gloucester between 2012 and 2018.
Stephen John Hance is a British Anglican priest. Since 2019, he has been National Lead for Evangelism and Witness for the Church of England. He was previously the Dean of Derby, and before that the Canon Missioner of Southwark Cathedral and Director of Mission and Evangelism for the Diocese of Southwark from 2013 to 2017.
Gulnar Eleanor "Guli" Francis-Dehqani is an Iranian-born British Anglican bishop who has been Bishop of Chelmsford since 2021. She previously served as the first Bishop of Loughborough, the sole suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Leicester from 2017 to 2021.
