Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University, formerly Andhra Pradesh Horticultural University, is a state university located at Venkataramannagudem, near Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India. It was established in 2007 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and focuses on education and research of horticultural science.

Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University was established in 2007 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh as the Andhra Pradesh Horticultural University, together with three colleges of horticulture, at Venkataramannagudem in West Godavari district, Mojerla in Mahaboob Nagar district and Anantharajupet in Kadapa district, as well as some educational programmes which were offered under Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University. It was originally managed by a government official until the appointment of the first Vice-Chancellor in 2008, when it became independent. [1] It was renamed as Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University in 2011. [2]

Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao is the former minister for Civil Supplies and consumer affairs in Andhra Pradesh government. He is Member of the Legislative Assembly of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, representing Tanuku. He is a member of the YSR Congress party. He started his political career in Congress Party, he was General Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee from 2009 to 2014. He also served as chairperson for West Godavari Zilla Parishad for three years before being elected as MLA for the first time in 2009. He was awarded honorary doctorate in social service by Westbrook University, US in 2007. He has been appointed General Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee on 9 June 2013. He was elected for second term as MLA from Tanuku in 2019 elections representing YSR Congress. He is the former cabinet Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in Andhra Pradesh.

He served as an IAS officer from 1980 to 2013, and retired as the Agriculture Production Commissioner & Spl. Chief Secretary to Government, Agriculture & Coop. Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh. He was also the Vice Chancellor, A.P. Horticulture University before he retired.
