ETB 3 is the third television channel from the Euskal Irrati Telebista group in the Basque Autonomous Community, Navarre and the French Basque Country in Spain. The channel broadcasts entirely in Basque.

History

ETB3 was launched on October 10, 2008 as EiTB's third own channel, replacing Canal Vasco on Basque Country DTT. [1] It was the second Spanish regional channel aimed at children after Super3 in Catalonia.

Programming

The channel was created with the aim of retaining a new audience to the EiTB channels, so its programming is aimed at children, so most of its programming is occupied by cartoons. The channel broadcasts in Basque language. [2] Previously, the channel also broadcast some cultural and entertainment programs aimed at a teenage audience.

Founded in February 2011, it is the first political party belonging to the Basque nationalist "abertzale left" that openly rejects any kind of political violence. The 2016 Basque regional election was held on Sunday, 25 September 2016, to elect the 11th Parliament of the Basque Autonomous Community. All 75 seats in the Parliament were up for election. The election was held simultaneously with a regional election in Galicia. Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu announced that the election would be held one month ahead of schedule, on 25 September 2016, based on the "climate of ungovernability" affecting national politics as a result of the ongoing Spanish government formation negotiations, intending to move the regional election as far away as possible from a possible new general election. This prompted Galician president Alberto Núñez Feijóo to hold the Galician regional election in the same date.

Betizu was a children's and youth television programming, by EITB Media, broadcast by the ETB 1 channel, between 2001 and 2011. It was not a television program itself, but a strip of television programming. It was replaced by the television space Hiru3 (2011–present).
