Egypt competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. 89 competitors, 74 men and 15 women, took part in 64 events in 20 sports. Egyptian competitors did not win any medal at the Sydney Olympics.
Egypt competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, United States. The nation returned to the Summer Games after participating in the African boycott of the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and the American-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. However, Egypt did not participate in the Soviet-led boycott. 114 competitors, 108 men and 6 women, took part in 74 events in 15 sports.

Al Ahly Volleyball Club, also called "The Masters" is one of Al Ahly SC club's sections that represent the club in Egypt and in international volleyball competitions. The club team section has been based in Cairo since 1932. Al Ahly volleyball team can be considered the greatest team in Africa and the Middle East. It has played in the Egyptian Volleyball League without interruption since 1957. Al Ahly is the most titled club in the Egyptian Volleyball league with 34 titles.
