This was 2 fewer women than the country had sent to Sydney for the 2000 Games. Three members of the delegation, including two athletes, participated in a study about dental health during the Games.

Al Ahly Volleyball Club, also called "The Masters" is one of Al Ahly SC club's sections that represent the club in Egypt and in international volleyball competitions. The club team section has been based in Cairo since 1932. Al Ahly volleyball team can be considered the greatest team in Africa and the Middle East. It has played in the Egyptian Volleyball League without interruption since 1957. Al Ahly is the most titled club in the Egyptian Volleyball league with 33 titles. Also, the team has participated in African Clubs Championship since 1980 and achieved the title 15 times.

Zamalek Volleyball Club commonly known as Zamalek V.C, or simply as Zamalek SC, is a professional volleyball team based in Giza, Egypt. founded in 1952. They compete in the Egyptian League.

Hamdy Awad El-Safi is a former Egyptian male volleyball player. He was included in the Egypt men's national volleyball team that finished 11th at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

The Family of Mr Shalash is an Egyptian comedy drama miniseries directed by Mohamed Nabih. Salah Zulfikar stars as Mr. Farouk Shalash. The series is based on a story written by Mohamed Nabih and Ahmed Awad. It was aired for the first time during Ramadan on 27 March 1990 on Egyptian television.

The Criminal is an Egyptian film released on September 3, 1978. The film is directed by Salah Abu Seif and based on the novel Thérèse Raquin by Émile Zola. It is the second adaptation by Abu Seif of this work he first adapted as Your Day Will Come, released in 1951.
