Eudonia oculata is a moth in the family Crambidae. [3] It was described by Alfred Philpott in 1927. This species is endemic to New Zealand and is said to be found only in the South Island, however specimens have also been observed in the lower parts of the North Island and at Chatham Island. This species inhabits grass or shrub land as well as lowland to alpine tussock habitat. Adults are commonly on the wing from November until April and are attracted to light.
This species was first described by Alfred Philpott in 1927 and originally named Scoparia oculata. [4] George Hudson discussed and illustrated this species in 1939 in his book A supplement to the butterflies and moths of New Zealand under this name. [5] In 1988 John S. Dugdale placed this species in the genus Eudonia. [2] The female holotype specimen, collected in Nelson, is held at the New Zealand Arthropod Collection. [2]
Philpott described this species as follows:
♂ ♀. 19–22 mm.. Head and palpi brown mixed with white. Antennae brown, in male minutely ciliated. Thorax purplish-brown. Abdomen ochreous-grey. Legs ochreous-white, spurs brown. Forewings moderate, costa almost straight, apex rectangular, termen hardly rounded, oblique; dull purplish-brown; markings usually absent, except reniform which is blackish, and obscurely X-shaped, the lower half being filled with white; in some specimens the veins are faintly outlined in black and there is an obscure subterminal line; fringes greyish-brown with a darker basal line. Hindwings fuscous-grey; fringes greyish-white with brownish basal line. [4]
This species is similar in appearance to Scoparia parca but can be distinguished as "the fore-wings are slightly narrower without sinuation in termen, slatey-grey strongly tinged with purple; all the markings are usually absent, except the reniform which is blackish, with the lower half white centred; there is no paler terminal area." [5]
This species is endemic to New Zealand. [1] This species is said to be only found in the South Island although specimens have been observed in the lower half of the North Island and the Chatham Island. [6] [7] [8]
This species inhabits lowland to alpine tussock grassland or native grass or shrubland. [9] [6] The larval host plants of this species are likely moss or herbaceous swards. [7] A report in 2021 indicated that the larval host of this species is moss. [9]
Adults are commonly on the wing from November to April. [5] They are attracted to light. [10]

Ichneutica oliveri is a moth of the family Noctuidae. It is endemic to New Zealand, found only in the South Island. However it has not been observed on the eastern side of that island from mid-Canterbury southwards to Southland. This species is distinctive and is unlikely to be confused with other closely related species. It inhabits tussock grasslands, shrubland as well as granite sand plains, all in the alpine zone. Adults are on the wing from December to March and are attracted to light. They have been observed feeding on the flowers of Hebe species. The life history of this species is unknown as are the larval hosts.

It is endemic in New Zealand and has been observed in the southern half of the South Island including in the Hunter Mountains and at Otira, Arthur's Pass and Mt Titiroa as well as in Deep Creek and Coronet Creek valleys near Coronet Peak. It is endemic to New Zealand and has been collected in the South Island in the West Coast, Fiordland,Canterbury, Otago and Southland regions. This species inhabits bare shingle areas as well as tussock habitat with few trees or scrub at altitudes of under 1000 m. Adults are on the wing from November to February.

Ichneutica cuneata is a moth in the family Noctuidae. It is endemic to New Zealand. I. cuneata is found in and around the Tongariro National Park in the North Island and throughout the South Island. Specimens found in Tongariro National Park tend to be darker in appearance than South Island specimens but as their colour is variable, and antennae and genitalia of both species are consistent, they are not now regarded as a separate species. I. cuneata inhabits tussock grasslands and shrublands in alpine and subalpine zones. The adults are on the wing from December to April and can be found flying during the day. The life history of I. cuneata is unknown as are the specific host species of its larvae. However larvae of I. cuneata are said to feed on herbaceous plants. The adults of this species also pollinate native species such as Myosotis macrantha.
Ichneutica marmorata is a moth of the family Noctuidae. This species is endemic to New Zealand and can be found in the North Island at the Tongariro National Park and at Puketitiri near the Kaweka Range. In the South Island it is widespread. It prefers alpine to subalpine habitat but occurs down to sea level altitudes in more southern locations. Adults are on the wing from late October to February. Larvae of this species may use tussock grasses in the genus Chionochloa as their host and they have been reared on Festuca novae-zelandiae.

This species has been observed in Central Otago and the Mackenzie Country. The larvae are believed to be soil dwelling with the adults emerging during the winter months of May and June. The female of the species is short winged and flightless and the male of the species have been observed on the wing in August and September.
