The Folketing, also known as the Parliament of Denmark or the Danish Parliament in English, is the unicameral national legislature (parliament) of the Kingdom of Denmark—Denmark proper together with the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Established in 1849, until 1953 the Folketing was the lower house of a bicameral parliament, called the Rigsdag; the upper house was the Landsting. It meets in Christiansborg Palace, on the islet of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen.

Andreas Frederik Krieger was a Danish politician, government minister, professor of law and supreme court judge. He was a member of the National Constitutional Assembly from 1848 to 1849, a member of the Folketing from 1849 to 1852 representing the National Liberal Party and a member of the Landsting from 1863 to 1890 representing first the National Liberal Party and later the conservative party Højre.
Edmund Esbern Johannes Joensen is a Faroese politician, who was the Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands from 1994 to 1998. From 2015 to 2022 served as a member of the Danish Folketing, being one of two Faroese seats in parliament. He did not stand in the 2022 Danish general election and his granddaughter Anna Falkenberg replaced him as Member of the Folketing for the Union Party of which Joensen is a member.

Denmark is a nation state. Danish politics and governance are characterized by a common striving for broad consensus on important issues, within both the political community and society as a whole.

The Court of Impeachment of the Realm is a special court of the Kingdom of Denmark, that the Danish Parliament can assemble, to hear and deliver judgments against ministers accused of unlawful misconduct and maladministration of office. According to the wording of the Constitutional Act, the Queen can also demand that Ministers be impeached and brought before the Court of Impeachment. Zealand is one of the 12 multi-member constituencies of the Folketing, the national legislature of Denmark. The constituency was established in 2007 following the public administration structural reform. It consists of the municipalities of Faxe, Greve, Guldborgsund, Holbæk, Kalundborg, Køge, Lejre, Lolland, Næstved, Odsherred, Ringsted, Roskilde, Slagelse, Solrød, Sorø, Stevns and Vordingborg. The constituency currently elects 20 of the 179 members of the Folketing using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2022 general election it had 634,513 registered electors.
Lis Møller was a Danish journalist and Conservative People's Party politician who was elected to the Folketing for two non-consecutive periods. She joined the Young Conservatives when she was aged 15 and took part in organisational work for them. Møller joined Danmarks Radio as a programme secretary for radio in 1949 before moving to television seven years later. She focused on women's and social issues and underrepresented minorities while in Parliament and her broadcasting career focused on women's and youth, particularly social issues from those groups she worked with for organisations she was a part of. Møller was appointed Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog in 1976.
Marlene Harpsøe is a Danish politician who served as a Member of the Folketing from 2007 to 2011 and then from 2015 to 2019 representing the Danish People's Party. She was again elected in 2022 as a member of the Denmark Democrats for the North Zealand constituency.
Else Marie Zeuthen née Bengtsson (1897–1975) was a Danish peace activist and feminist. In the 1950s, she represented the Danish Social Liberal Party as a member of the Folketing. From 1941 to 1953, she headed the Danish branch of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and was president of the international organization from 1956 to 1965. Zeuthen opposed Denmark's membership of NATO. She contributed to creating a Danish network of associations and institutions able to collaborate with similar organisations at the international level.
