Sascha Faxe (born 4 August 1971) [1] is a Danish politician who has served as Member of the Folketing for The Alternative since the 2022 election. [2]
Despite standing and receiving 1,192 votes in the 2019 election,Faxe was not elected and rather served as primary substitute in the Zealand constituency. She announced her candidacy for leadership of The Alternative after Uffe Elbæk stepped down,but was beaten out by Josephine Fock. [3] [4]
Faxe,who hails from Lolland,but lives in Roskilde,was elected to the Folketing in 2022 with 1,129 personal votes. [2] She has stated a desire to bring the green policies of Roskilde to all of Denmark through her new position. [5]
Faxe has two children,born in 2003 and 2001 respectively. [5]
The Folketing,also known as the Parliament of Denmark or the Danish Parliament in English,is the unicameral national legislature (parliament) of the Kingdom of Denmark—Denmark proper together with the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Established in 1849,until 1953 the Folketing was the lower house of a bicameral parliament,called the Rigsdag;the upper house was the Landsting. It meets in Christiansborg Palace,on the islet of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen.

Uffe Elbæk is a Danish politician,social worker,author,journalist,entrepreneur. In 2013 he founded the green political party The Alternative,which he led until February 2020. He is an independent member of the Folketing.
The Alternative is a green and pro-European political party in Denmark. The party was publicly launched on 27 November 2013 by former Minister of Culture Uffe Elbæk and Josephine Fock;Elbæk had been a parliamentarian for the Social Liberal Party. Elbæk was the leader of the party until February 2020,where he stepped down and was succeeded by Fock. Currently the party is led by Franciska Rosenkilde. It collaborates with DiEM25 at the European level. The Alternative regards itself as a political movement and a cultural voice,as well as a political party.
General elections were held in the Kingdom of Denmark on 1 November 2022,except in the Faroe Islands,where they were held on 31 October as 1 November was a national day of mourning for victims at sea. Of the 179 members of the Folketing,175 were elected in Denmark proper,two in the Faroes and two in Greenland. The elections were called on 5 October following an ultimatum to the government by the Social Liberals due to the outcome of a report on the 2020 Danish mink cull by the Mink Commission,which was critical of the government. Voter turnout was 84% in Denmark,48% in Greenland,and 71% in the Faroes,with a combined turnout of 84% for the realm as a whole.
Theresa Birgitta Brønnum Scavenius is a Danish politician who currently serves as an independent member of the Folketing. Previously a member of the green political party The Alternative,she was first elected at the 2022 Danish general election as a member of the party,having previously run unsuccessfully for them in the 2019 election. She was a candidate to succeed Uffe Elbæk as leader of the party,after he resigned in February 2020,but lost to Josephine Fock.
The Independent Greens –Denmark's New Left-Wing Party,or simply the Independent Greens (Q),is a left-wing political party in Denmark. It was founded 7 September 2020 by four former members of The Alternative:Sikandar Siddique,Uffe Elbæk,and Susanne Zimmer,who were members of the Danish parliament,and Niko Grünfeld,member of Copenhagen City Council. The party leader is Sikandar Siddique. Elbæk was founder and leader of The Alternative from 2013 to 2020.
Josephine Fock is a Danish politician,who was a member of the Folketing for The Alternative from 2015 to 2018. She was the leader of the party from 1 February to 14 November 2020 after Uffe Elbæk resigned.
Torsten Gejl is a Danish politician,who is a member of the Folketing for The Alternative political party. He was elected into parliament at the 2015 Danish general election. He is currently the group leader of The Alternative in the Folketing.
