The Conservative People's Party,also known as The Conservatives is a centre-right political party in Denmark. The party is a member of the International Democracy Union and the European People's Party.
The Folketing,also known as the Parliament of Denmark or the Danish Parliament in English,is the unicameral national legislature (parliament) of the Kingdom of Denmark —Denmark proper together with the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Established in 1849,the Folketing was the lower house of the bicameral parliament called the Rigsdag until 1953;the upper house was the Landsting. It meets in Christiansborg Palace,on the islet of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen.
Viborg Municipality is a municipality in Region Midtjylland on the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 1,421.04 km2,and has a population of 97,472. Søren Pape Poulsen was chosen as mayor again for a second term of office 2014–17,but before the first year of his second term had passed,he accepted an offer to become chairman of his party,and a new mayor had to be chosen among the municipal council members. Its mayor from 3 September 2014 is Torsten Nielsen,also a member of the Conservative People's Party. He is mayor in the rest of the 2014-17 term of office.

Søren Pape Poulsen was a Danish politician who served as a member of the Folketing for the Danish Conservative Party and its leader from 2014 until his death. He was previously Mayor of Viborg Municipality from 2010 to 2014 and Justice Minister of Denmark from 2016 to 2019.

Nielsen worked as a licensed real estate agent between 1992 and 2021,and he was elected to the Viborg Municipality city council in 2009,where he was re-elected in 2013. Nielsen succeeded the former mayor,Søren Pape Poulsen,when he was appointed as the new leader of the Conservative People's Party in 2017.

West Jutland is one of the 12 multi-member constituencies of the Folketing,the national legislature of Denmark. The constituency was established in 2007 following the public administration structural reform. It consists of the municipalities of Herning,Holstebro,Ikast-Brande,Lemvig,Ringkøbing-Skjern,Silkeborg,Skive,Struer and Viborg. The constituency currently elects 13 of the 179 members of the Folketing using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2022 general election it had 385,528 registered electors.

Ever since the 2007 municipal reform,the Social Democrats had held the mayor's position in Roskilde Municipality. In the 2017 election,they had won their first absolute majority in the municipality. It would be Joy Mogensen who would continue following this result.
