Goa is the soundtrack album by Yuvan Shankar Raja to the 2010 romantic comedy film of the same name, directed by Venkat Prabhu, and produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth's Ocher Studios, starring Jai, Vaibhav, Premji Amaran, Sneha, Piaa Bajpai and Melanie Marie Jobstreibitzer in prominent roles.
The album consists of nine songs, [1] composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, Venkat Prabhu's cousin and regular music director, joining together for the third time after delivering the successful chartbuster albums Chennai 600028 (2007) and Saroja (2008). A major highlight of the soundtrack is a "family song", the first in the album, titled "Ezhezhu Thalaimuraikkum" that features "the cousins of the family", including music director Yuvan Shankar Raja, his siblings Karthik Raja and Bhavatharini, and his cousins Premji Amaran and director Venkat Prabhu himself. [2] [3] The song, penned by Gangai Amaran, is said to talk about and pay tribute to the elders of the Raja family—Pavalar Varadarajan, R. D. Bhaskar, Ilaiyaraaja and Gangai Amaren—and the family's home town, Pannaipuram (Theni), where the song was also recorded. [4] It was recorded live using a live orchestra, as it was usually done in the 1980s, but which has become a rarity in recent days. [5] Despite earlier reports that indicated, that Parthi Baskar, another cousin, would lend his voice for that song as well, [6] he, however, wasn't featured in the final version of the song. Another highlight is a song featuring Yuvan Shankar's father, legendary Indian composer Ilaiyaraaja, [6] [7] who agreed to lend his voice, after having been approached by Venkat Prabhu, who was very eager to make him sing in one of his films, [8] along with legendary singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam. [9] Another song is rendered by Ajeesh, the winner of the second season of the reality-based singing competition Airtel Super Singer . [1]
Apart from these songs, additionally a special promotional song was also composed as earlier reported, [10] the Goa title track that was released as a teaser trailer prior to the release of the film during Deepavali 2009. [11] The song also features Chynk Showtyme and Pav Bundy, two "international artists", who performed at Yuvan's Dubai concert in December 2009 as well. It also features a club mix arranged by Premgi Amaren. Other singers to render their voices for the album include K. S. Chitra and actress-singers Andrea Jeremiah and Mamta Mohandas, the latter singing for the first time under composer Yuvan Shankar Raja's direction. [12] The lyrics for the songs were written by 'Kavignar' Vaali and Venkat Prabhu's father, Gangai Amaran as usual. [12]

The album's premiere event, where the soundtrack would be released officially was postponed several times due to delays and problems in the production and to avoid clashes with other big film events and releases. The album was earlier planned to be released during last week of October, [13] then got postponed to second week of December (coinciding with producer Soundarya's father Rajinikanth's birthday), [14] and later postponed to 23 December 2009, [12] and finally released on 6 January 2010. [15] Though producer Soundarya Rajinikanth had planned to have a grand event at Chennai Trade Centre for the album launch, with many prominent film industry personalities gracing the function, the album was eventually released in a very simple manner by Soundarya's father Rajinikanth at his own residence at Poes Garden, and about which the press and media wasn't informed and not invited. [15] On 1 January 2010, a few days before the official release, the songs were broadcast on several radio channels during New Year special programs for promotional purposes.
The album received positive reviews. Behindwoods rated the album 3 out of 5 stating "A neat and slick album that mixes the predictable and the pleasantly novel. Yuvan scores again in the rhythm department. One truly wishes the film is equally lively and fulfils Venkat Prabhu’s ‘hattrick’ aspiration." [16] Indiaglitz rated the album 3 out of 5 stating "Splendid show by Yuvan Shankar Raja in Goa. Listen to the album and get charmed. It is like packing bags and going all the way to enjoy a splendid vacation in Goa." [17] Rediff rated the album 2.5 out of 5, stating "Yuvan Shankar Raja usually reserves the best of his work for certain directors and so far, Venkat Prabhu has been one of them. This time around, though, either he's run out of inspiration, or has been under strict orders not to exert himself too much. Aside from a few moments, you can't really sense his presence anywhere. There are a lot of fireworks, much rapping and clash of percussion instruments, but his signature tunes are hard to find. Being Yuvan, he doesn't really mess up but you'll just have to resign yourself to enjoying what little of originality there is." [18] Milliblog gave favourable reviews stating "Goa’s soundtrack is exhilarating – Yuvan opens the year in style!" [19]

Abdul Haliq is an Indian composer and playback singer, who continues to use his birth name professionally. He mainly scores music for Tamil films along with few Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi films. Considered a versatile composer, he is particularly known for his use of Western music elements and often credited with having introduced hip hop to the Tamil film and music industry and started the "era of remixes" in Tamil Nadu which included mixed EDM and jazz. He is frequently referred to as the "BGM King" and the "Young Maestro" of Tamil Film Music. Yuvan has won two Filmfare Awards South, five Mirchi Music Awards South, three Vijay Awards and two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.
Venkat Kumar Gangai Amaren, better known by his stage name Venkat Prabhu, is an Indian film director, actor and playback singer in Tamil cinema. In addition, he also worked in Telugu Cinema. After completing his education, he began pursuing an acting career, with his first three ventures featuring him in a starring role, failing to release, following which he began appearing in character roles.
Billa is a 2007 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Vishnuvardhan. It is a remake of the 1980 film of the same name starring Rajnikanth, which itself is a remake of 1978 Hindi film Don, starring Amitabh Bachchan. The film stars Ajith Kumar who plays a double role as an underworld don and his friendly look-alike alongside Nayanthara and Namitha, while Prabhu, Rahman, Adithya Menon, and Santhanam playing supporting roles. Chennai 600028 is a 2007 Indian Tamil-language sports comedy film written and directed by Venkat Prabhu in his directorial debut. It stars Jai, Shiva, Premji, Aravind Akash, Nithin Sathya and newcomers Ajay Raj, Vijay Vasanth, Prasanna, Inigo Prabakaran, Karthik and Arun in the lead along with Vijayalakshmi Feroz and Kristine Zedek, making their acting debuts as well. The film was produced by S. P. B. Charan along with J. K. Saravana, a Singapore-based award-winning producer. The film's score and soundtrack were composed by Premji Amaran and Yuvan Shankar Raja respectively.
Prem Kumar Gangai Amaren, better known as Premgi or Premji is an Indian singer, composer, songwriter, actor and comedian. The son of composer and director Gangai Amaran, he often composes rap songs in Tamil cinema and is known for his comical performances in his elder brother's films. His stage name, Premgi, is actually a spelling error, as it is meant to be "Prem G.", the G standing for his father. He is also best known for his catchphrases Enna Koduma Sir Idhu ? and Evvalavo pannitom, itha panna mattoma, the former being a modified version of a famous dialogue used by Prabhu in Chandramukhi (2005).

Saroja is a 2008 Indian Tamil-language comedy thriller film written and directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by T. Siva. It stars Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Shiva, Vaibhav, Premji, S. P. Charan and Vega Tamotia as the title character, while Sampath Raj, Nikita Thukral, Bose Venkat and Kajal Aggarwal play other vital roles. Several other popular Tamil television artists and crew members make special appearances throughout the film. The score and soundtrack were composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja with cinematography by Sakthi Saravanan.

Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puravum is a 2009 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by debutante Rajamohan. The film stars newcomers Ramakrishnan and Thananya, while Tharun Chatriya, Nagamma, and Agavamma play supporting roles. The film is produced by SPB Charan under his banner Capital Film Works and has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film released on 24 April 2009.
Goa is a 2010 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film written by Sampath Ravi and directed by Venkat Prabhu in his third directorial project. Starring his regular cast consisting of Jai, Vaibhav, and Premji along with Aravind Akash, Sampath Raj, Piaa Bajpai, Sneha, and the debutant Australian model Melanie Marie in other roles, the film is the first production of Soundarya Rajinikanth's Ocher Picture Productions. Actors Silambarasan Rajendar, Nayantara and Prasanna make guest appearances in the film, which features music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, whilst cinematography is handled by Sakthi Saravanan and the film is edited by K. L. Praveen and N. B. Srikanth.
Kadhal Samrajyam (transl. Empire of Love_ is an unreleased Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film which was shot from 2001 onwards. The film, directed by Agathiyan and produced by Panchu Arunachalam's son, Subbu Panchu, starred an array of children of famous actors and technicians. The film was launched and completed in 2002 and is ready for release, but, despite the release of the soundtrack and the trailer, it is yet to see the lights of day. It should have been the debut film of Aravind, Charan, Anjana, Venkat Prabhu and Santhoshi, but due to the delay of the film's release they got introduced into the film industry in different ways and through other films.
Mankatha is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Dayanidhi Azhagiri's Cloud Nine Movies. The film stars an ensemble cast of Ajith Kumar, Lakshmi Rai, Anjali, Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, Andrea Jeremiah, Ashwin Kakumanu, Vaibhav Reddy, Premji Amaren, Mahat Raghavendra, Jayaprakash, Aravind Akash and Subbu Panchu. It is the fiftieth film of Ajith as a lead actor and the third and penultimate film of the production studio. The film follows Vinayak, a corrupted ACP in Mumbai, who joins a gang of four who plans on a heist of cricket betting money.
Thanga Meenkal is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Ram in his second directorial venture after Kattradhu Thamizh. The story was written by Ram and his daughter Shri Sankara Gomathy Ram, with the former, besides, played the lead role as well alongside newcomers Sadhana and Shelly Kishore. The film is jointly produced by Gautham Vasudev Menon and J. Satish Kumar under the banners Photon Kathaas and JSK Film Corporation, respectively.
Yuvan – Live in Concert is a concert by Indian musician Yuvan Shankar Raja. The concert, Yuvan's second in his career, took place on Pongal, 16 January 2011 at the YMCA Grounds, Nandanam, Chennai. Following the announcement, popular Tamil television STAR Vijay agreed to collaborate, sponsoring, organising and marketing the concert, while airing a special television series about Yuvan Shankar Raja, with family members and prominent celebrities closely associated to him participating, besides producing a promotional music video, titled "I'll be there for you". The five-hour show, which was attended by 20,000 people, including several noted film personalities, was received very positively and considered a highly successful event. The concert was aired on 11 and 12 February, Friday and Saturday at 2000 hrs on Vijay TV.

Masss is a 2015 Indian Tamil-language action horror comedy film directed by Venkat Prabhu, who co-wrote the script with Madhan Karky. It was produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green and Aadnah Arts. The film stars Suriya in dual roles, alongside Nayanthara, Pranitha Subhash, Premgi, Parthiban, and Samuthirakani. It follows Masss, a con artist, who starts interacting with ghosts. During one such encounter, he stumbles upon Shakthi, a ghost who wants to seek revenge against his family's killers.
Chennai 600028 II is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language sports comedy film co-produced, written and directed by Venkat Prabhu, who also produces the film along with S. P. B. Charan under Black Ticket Company and Capital Film Works. The film, which is a sequel to Chennai 600028 (2007), features Vaibhav in a prominent role in addition to several cast members from the earlier film including Jai, Shiva, Premji, Aravind Akash, Inigo Prabakaran and Nithin Sathya. The film's score and soundtrack is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film was released on 9 December 2016 to mixed to positive reviews and performed well at the box office.
Maanaadu is the soundtrack for the 2021 Tamil-language science fiction action thriller film of the same name, starring Silambarasan, and S. J. Suryah. The film is directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Suresh Kamatchi of V House Productions. The film's soundtrack is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, after regularly collaborating with Prabhu and Silambarasan and lyrics are written by Madhan Karky and Arivu. The album featured two songs: "Meherezylaa" and "Voice of Unity", which did not feature in the film. These tracks were released as singles on 21 June and 3 November 2021; coinciding a promotional pre-release event held in Chennai. The music album consisting of 7 tracks, including few instrumentals being used in the background score was released on 7 November 2021 by U1 Records, and received positive response from critics and audiences.
