The decathlon is a combined event in athletics consisting of 10 track and field events. The word "decathlon" was formed, in analogy to the word "pentathlon", from Greek δέκα and ἄθλος. Events are held over two consecutive days and the winners are determined by the combined performance in all. Performance is judged on a points system in each event, not by the position achieved. The decathlon is contested mainly by male athletes, while female athletes typically compete in the heptathlon.
The Olympic Stadium of Athens "Spyros Louis" is a sports stadium in Marousi, in the north section of Athens, Greece. It is a part of the Athens Olympic Sports Complex and is named after the first modern Olympic marathon gold medalist in 1896, Spyros Louis. The stadium served as the main stadium during the 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2004 Summer Paralympics. More recently, the stadium was the home of AEK Athens and the Greece national football team until the inauguration of the Agia Sophia Stadium in 2022. Greece's two biggest football clubs, Olympiacos and Panathinaikos have also used the stadium as a home ground in the past. Panathinaikos have been set to use the stadium for the team's home European games in the 2023–24 season, but the stadium was temporarily closed over a failed safety inspection in October 2023 after only hosting the first group stage match. Following the removal of worn panels on the roof and replacement with new panels, it was announced the stadium will reopen by April 2024.
Olympiacos Men's Volleyball, commonly referred to as Olympiacos, Olympiacos Piraeus or with its full name as Olympiacos SFP, is the men's professional volleyball department of the major Greek multi-sport club, Olympiacos SFP, based in Piraeus, Attica. The department was founded in 1926 and their home ground is the Melina Merkouri Indoor Hall in Agios Ioannis Rentis, Piraeus.

Nikoleta 'Nikol' Kyriakopoulou is a Greek pole vaulter. Nikoleta was 8th at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021. She also won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Beijing in 2015 jumping 4.80m. During the 2015 season, she set five Greek records raising the bar to 4,83 meters. The same year, she became the first Greek athlete to win the IAAF Diamond League.

The Balkan Athletics Indoor Championships, also known as the Balkan Indoor Games, is an annual international regional indoor track and field competition between athletes from the Balkans. Following a test event in 1991, it was officially launched in 1994. Organised by the Association of the Balkan Athletics Federations (ABAF), it is typically held in February. The competition complemented the long-running annual outdoor track and field tournament: the Balkan Games.

Maria Kanellopoulou is a Greek water polo player. She was a member of the Greece women's national water polo team that finished in the fourth place at the 2001 European Championship in Budapest. She also competed in the 1998 World Championship in Perth where Greece finished in fifth place, and the 2003 World Championship in Barcelona where the Greek team finished 9th. Kanellopoulou was also part of the Greece women's national water polo team that won the gold medal at the 1997 Junior World Championship in Prague.
Dimitrios Kyteas is a retired Physical Education Professor and active Federal Coach. For many years he was Greece National and Balkan Champion in Pole Vault. He participated in European Championships, International Meetings and in Montreal Olympic Games as athlete and in London and Rio de Janeiro as coach.
