Margarete "Grete" Heublein (29 January 1908, in Barmen – 2 March 1997, in Wuppertal) was a German track and field athlete who competed in the discus throw, shot put and the 100 metres sprint. She set the world record in discus on 19 June 1932 in Hagen, reaching 40.84 metres, but lost it the same day. She competed at the 1928 Summer Olympics and the 1932 Summer Olympics. [1]

Ottilie "Tilly" Fleischer was a German athlete who competed in a variety of track and field athletic events. She competed for Germany in the 1932 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles in three different events, taking the bronze medal in the javelin. Four years later in her home country at the 1936 Games she won the gold medal in the javelin in front of the Berlin crowds.

Venne "Verner" Järvinen was a Finnish track and field athlete, who competed mostly in throwing events. He won the gold medal in the Greek-style discus in the 1906 Intercalated Games, and the bronze in the 1908 Summer Olympics, becoming the first Finnish Olympic medalist in athletics. He won the Finnish championship in Greek style discus three times in 1909–1911 and held the national record in discus and hammer throw.

Ingeborg Ella Pfüller is an Argentine former track and field athlete who competed in the discus throw and shot put. She also won the discus throw at the South American Championships in 1961 and 1963.

Grete Ortved Frederiksen was a Danish freestyle swimmer who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics. She was born in Copenhagen. In 1936 she finished seventh in the 400 metre freestyle event.

The men's discus throw event at the 1932 Olympic Games took place August 3. Eighteen athletes from 11 nations competed. The 1930 Olympic Congress in Berlin had reduced the limit from 4 athletes per NOC to 3 athletes. The event was won by John Anderson of the United States, the nation's third consecutive and sixth overall victory in the men's discus throw. Henri LaBorde took silver, marking the first time since 1908 that the same nation had the top two discus throwers. Paul Winter was the bronze medalist, earning France's first discus medal. Finland's four-Games podium streak ended, while the United States extended its streak to all nine appearances of the event.

Grete Olsen was a Danish fencer. She competed in the women's individual foil event at the 1932, 1936 and 1948 Summer Olympics.

The men's discus throw event was part of the track and field athletics programme at the 1936 Summer Olympics. The competition was held on August 5, 1936. Thirty-one athletes from 17 nations competed. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The final was won by Ken Carpenter of the United States. It was the nation's fourth consecutive, and seventh overall, victory in the men's discus throw; it was also the second consecutive Games that the Americans finished with both of the top two places, as Gordon Dunn took silver. Giorgio Oberweger earned Italy's first men's discus throw medal with his bronze.

Johanna Freda Gertrude Wilhelmsen was an American track and field athlete and softball player. She represented the United States at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, placing seventh in the women's javelin throw and eighth in the discus throw.
