Handango was an online store selling mobile apps for personal digital assistants and smartphones.
Handango InHand was founded in 1999 by Randy Eisenman. It is an app store for finding, installing, and buying software for mobile devices. It was made available in 2003 for Symbian UIQ users, [1] [2] [3] 2004 for Windows Mobile [3] [4] and Palm OS, [5] [6] 2005 for Blackberry, [7] and 2006 for Symbian S60. [8] [9]
Application downloads and purchases are completed directly on the device. Descriptions, ratings and screenshots are available for all applications. [10] [11] In February 2011, Handango's new owner PocketGear Inc. re-branded as Appia, [12] shifting focus to on-device OEM branded store apps. Consequently, both Handango's and PocketGear's websites were shut down in 2013. [13]

Nokia's aim with Ovi was to include third party developers, such as operators and third-party services like Yahoo's Flickr photo site. With the announcement of Ovi Maps Player API, Nokia started to evolve their services into a platform, enabling third parties to make use of Nokia's Ovi services.

Doodle Jump is a platforming video game developed and published by Croatian studio Lima Sky, for Windows Phone, iPhone OS, BlackBerry, Android, Java Mobile (J2ME), Nokia Symbian, and Xbox 360 for the Kinect platform. It was released worldwide for iPhone OS on March 15, 2009, and was later released for Android and Blackberry on March 2, 2010, Symbian on May 1, 2010, Windows Phone 7 on June 1, 2011, and August 21, 2013, on Windows Phone 8. It was released for the iPad on September 1, 2011. Since its release, the game has been generally well received. The game is currently available on nine platforms.
Symbian is a discontinued mobile operating system (OS) and computing platform designed for smartphones. Symbian was originally developed as a proprietary software OS for PDAs in 1998 by the Symbian Ltd. consortium. Symbian OS is a descendant of Psion's EPOC, and was released exclusively on ARM processors, although an unreleased x86 port existed. Symbian was used by many major mobile phone brands, like Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, and above all by Nokia. It was also prevalent in Japan by brands including Fujitsu, Sharp and Mitsubishi. As a pioneer that established the smartphone industry, it was the most popular smartphone OS on a worldwide average until the end of 2010, at a time when smartphones were in limited use, when it was overtaken by iOS and Android. It was notably less popular in North America.

SPB Software's most popular solution, the SPB Shell 3D, has been described by The New York Times as an application that makes for a much more user-friendly phone. SPB Shell 3D utilizes SPB Software's SPB UI Engine, a cross-platform modular plugin for building hyper-realistic 3D interfaces on a variety of devices. SPB also develops software running on Android, iOS, Symbian, Bada, BlackBerry, Maemo, MeeGo, webOS, Windows Phone 7, and the Windows Mobile operating systems.

Microsoft started to develop for mobile computing platforms with the launch of Windows CE in 1996 and later added Microsoft's Pocket Office suite to their Handheld PC line of PDAs in April 2000. HERE WeGo is a web mapping and navigation service, operated by Here Technologies and originally developed by Nokia. In 2013, HERE Technologies released this web mapping application for Windows Phone and the World Wide Web as a revamped version of Nokia Maps. HERE Technologies released the HERE Maps application to the Android platform on 10 December 2014 and later for iOS on 11 March 2015. The company changed the product name to Here WeGo in July 2016. It's the default maps service provider for the Amazon Fire tablets and smartphone.
Nokia Download!, originally Nokia Catalogs, was a mobile application for Nokia devices that allowed access to digitally distributed media content. Catalogs/Download! came preloaded on most Symbian S60 smartphones from Nokia, as well as some later Series 40 feature phones. Most of the content was paid.
