The Hayes River is a river in the Kitikmeot and Kivalliq Regions of Nunavut, Canada. It is in the Arctic Ocean drainage basin and is a tributary of the Back River.
The river begins at an unnamed lake in Kivalliq Region, and reaches its mouth at the Back River in Kitikmeot Region, just south of that river's mouth at Cockburn Bay on Chantrey Inlet on the Arctic Ocean.
The Back River, formerly Backs River, is the 20th longest Canadian river and is located in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. It rises at an unnamed lake in the North Slave Region of the Northwest Territories and flows more than 974 km (605 mi) mostly through the Kivalliq Region, Nunavut, to its mouth at the Arctic Ocean in the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut.
Kitikmeot Region is an administrative region of Nunavut, Canada. It consists of the southern and eastern parts of Victoria Island with the adjacent part of the mainland as far as the Boothia Peninsula, together with King William Island and the southern portion of Prince of Wales Island. The regional centre is Cambridge Bay.
Matty Island is one of the uninhabited members of the Canadian arctic islands in the Kitikmeot Region, Nunavut. It is located in Rae Strait, between King William Island and the Boothia Peninsula. Located at 69°29'N 95°40'W it has an area of 477 km2 (184 sq mi).
The Coppermine River is a river in the North Slave and Kitikmeot regions of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut in Canada. It is 845 kilometres (525 mi) long. It rises in Lac de Gras, a small lake near Great Slave Lake, and flows generally north to Coronation Gulf, an arm of the Arctic Ocean. The river freezes in winter but may still flow under the ice.

Viscount Melville Sound, formerly Melville Sound, is an arm of the Arctic Ocean in the Kitikmeot Region, Nunavut and the Inuvik Region, Northwest Territories, Canada. Forming part of the Parry Channel, it separates Victoria Island and Prince of Wales Island from the Queen Elizabeth Islands. East of the sound, via Barrow Strait, lies Lancaster Sound, leading into Baffin Bay; westward lies the M'Clure Strait and the Arctic Ocean / Beaufort Sea. The sound is a part of the Northwest Passage.
Wager Bay or Ukkusiksalik Bay is long narrow inlet in the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut, Canada, which opens east into Roes Welcome Sound at the northwest end of Hudson Bay. Ukkusiksalik National Park surrounds it.
Chantrey Inlet (Tariunnuaq) is a bay on the Arctic coast of Canada. It marks the southeast "corner" where the generally east–west coast turns sharply north. To the west is the Adelaide Peninsula and to the east is mainland. King William Island shelters it to the northwest. To the west the Simpson Strait separates King William Island from the Adelaide Peninsula. Its mouth is marked by Point Ogle on the west and Cape Britannia on the east. West of Point Ogle is Barrow Bay, Starvation Cove and Point Richardson. The Back River enters from the south. Near its mouth is a weather station on the Hayes River. Montreal Island is contained within the Inlet. It is 160 km (100 mi) long and 80 km (50 mi) wide at its mouth.
Tahiryuaq, formerly Ferguson Lake, is located on southern Victoria Island in the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut, in northern Canada. It drains westward into Iqaluktuuq which is a segment of the Ekalluk River, 8.0 km (5 mi) from the northeastern side of Wellington Bay (Ekaloktok), on Dease Strait, Arctic Ocean Ferguson Lake was the namesake of Constable Ferguson, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police member, but is now known by the original name of Tahiryuaq
Garry Lake is a lake in sub-Arctic Kivalliq Region, Nunavut, Canada. As a portion of the Back River waterway, Garry Lake originates directly east of Lake Pelly and drains to the east by the Back River. A set of rapids separate Buliard Lake from Garry Lake. Two other sets of rapids separate Garry Lake's three sections which are also differentiated by elevation. Garry Lakes are isolated from nearby communities.
Perry River (Kuugjuaq) is a waterway in the Kitikmeot Region, Nunavut, Canada. It empties into Chester Bay on the southern Queen Maud Gulf.
Albert Edward Bay is a bay on the southeast side of Victoria Island in the Arctic Archipelago. It faces Victoria Strait to the east. There are several islands in the bay, the largest of which is Admiralty Island at its mouth. Its north side is the Collinson Peninsula.
Wellington Bay is an Arctic waterway in Kitikmeot Region, Nunavut, Canada. It is located in Dease Strait, off southern Victoria Island. It is about 65 km (40 mi) northwest of the community of Cambridge Bay.
Kuunajuk formerly Ellice River, for Edward Ellice, Jr., is a waterway in the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut, Canada. It rises close to the Back River between Lake Beechey and Pelly Lake, and flows northward into the Queen Maud Gulf. Its mouth opens between Campbell Bay and Gernon Bay. The land between the river and Sherman Inlet is generally flat and marshy. Muskox and barren-ground caribou frequent the area.
The Asiak River is a waterway in the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut in Canada. It flows generally north to Coronation Gulf, an arm of the Arctic Ocean. It runs parallel to the Coppermine River, 29 kilometres (18 mi) to the west.
Gernon Bay is an Arctic waterway in the Kitikmeot Region, Nunavut, Canada. It is located on the south side of the Queen Maud Gulf off Nunavut's mainland.
The Whitefish River is a river in the Deline District, Sahtu Region, Northwest Territories, Canada. It is in the Arctic Ocean and Mackenzie River drainage basins, is a tributary of Great Bear Lake and has a watershed of 4,740 square kilometres (1,830 sq mi).
The Horton River is a river in Inuvik and Sahtu Regions, Northwest Territories and Kitikmeot Region, Nunavut, Canada. It is a tributary of the Beaufort Sea and hence part of the Arctic Ocean drainage basin. Only the first few kilometres from its source are within Nunavut.
The Hargrave River is a river in the Arctic Ocean drainage basin in Kitikmeot Region, Nunavut, Canada. It is on the Kent Peninsula, and has its mouth on Dease Strait.
Winter Island is an uninhabited island of the Arctic Archipelago in the Kitikmeot Region, Nunavut. It is located at the mouth of the Perry River in the Queen Maud Gulf Migratory Bird Sanctuary where tundra swan have been known to nest in limited numbers. In 1822 William Parry, teamed up with two local Inuit to map places around the Melville Peninsula in the greater Canadian Arctic which included Winter Island.
