Hemphillia malonei is a species of air-breathing land slugs, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the family Binneyidae. It is endemic to Mount Hood and the Columbia River Gorge of Oregon and Washington, USA. [1]

The Pacific shrew is a species of mammal in the family Soricidae. It is endemic to western Oregon in the United States. The Pacific Shrew is native to western Oregon, more specifically from the Siltcoos lake to the coast going from the border line of Douglas and Lane counties continuing south to the northern parts of California. The first documented Pacific shrew to be caught was found at the mouth of the Umpqua River in 1858. They are normally found in damp areas along creeks in forests and sometimes near collapsed trees. Their refuge is of the utmost importance and they are seldom found far from it. This includes collapsed trees or dense vegetation. They use the flora to build a nest, gathering small plants such as grass, moss, lichen, or leaves into a pile and pushing themselves into the middle.

The SLUG Queen, slug queen, or S.L.U.G. Queen, is a humorous character concept considered to be the unofficial goodwill ambassador of the City Of Eugene, Oregon, United States. The Slug Queen presides over many popular events in Eugene, including the Eugene Celebration, an alternative festival, and The EUG Parade. The Slug Queen has never been the domain of the Eugene Celebration despite their origin connection. In fact, the Slug Queen concept was born as a direct response in opposition to the conventional nature of the name "Eugene Celebration". A new SLUG Queen is crowned on the second Friday in August after a public competition. The queen is named "SLUG" as a rebellious nod to the more common tradition of crowning agricultural queens, often selected for beauty, as opposed to wit and audacity. Slugs were selected to celebrate because they are ubiquitous in the Willamette Valley, they are antithetical to traditional or stereotypical mascots, and they symbolize creativity and unbridled good-natured humor. The newly crowned SLUG is referred to as the "Raining" SLUG Queen. After a year of "rain" the SLUG Queen is promoted to Old Queen.

Adley Stan Rutschman is an American professional baseball catcher for the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball for the Oregon State Beavers. He was named the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year in 2019. The Orioles selected Rutschman with the first overall selection in the 2019 MLB draft, and he signed for $8.1 million, at the time the highest MLB draft signing bonus ever. Rutschman made his MLB debut in 2022.
The Pacific Banana Slug is a species of slug found on the Pacific coast of North America. It is the second-largest species of terrestrial slug in the world, growing up to 25 centimeters long. As of 2021, it is the most commonly observed species in the genus Ariolimax on the citizen science website iNaturalist. An important function of this particular species is the role it plays in seed dispersion.
