The Hunterdon County LINK is a bus system in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The system offers fixed-route and demand-response services throughout the county. The system is operated by the Hunterdon County Department of Human Services, and operated by Easton Coach Company. [2] [3] From 2011 to 2020, it was operated by First Transit. [3]

History

The Hunterdon County LINK system started in 1984. [4] From 1984 until 2016, service consisted mainly of demand response service. The only fixed-route buses were the Flemington Shuffles (routes 16 and 20). [5] In March 2016, the county's bus system was redesigned. Demand response service was retained, but four new routes (routes 14 through 18), collectively branded as the "Cross County Shuffles," were introduced, replacing key demand response corridors. [5] In addition to this, a new "Out of County Shuffle" route was introduced, the route 23, running from Flemington to Somerville in Somerset County. As a part of this service redesign, the Flemington Shuffles were also modified, with the route 20 (Evening Flemington Shuffle) being removed and the route 19 being added as a reverse run of the route 16. [5] In January 2019, a bus shelter was added to the LINK Transfer Center in Flemington. [5] [6] [7]

Most of the borough is located in the Amwell Valley, a low-lying area of the Newark Basin, and the Raritan Valley, the South Branch of the Raritan River, which flows through the center of Flemington. Northwestern portions of the borough sit on the Hunterdon Plateau. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 4,876, its highest decennial count ever and an increase of 295 (+6.4%) from the 2010 census count of 4,581, which in turn reflected an increase of 381 (+9.1%) from the 4,200 counted in the 2000 census.

The township is located within the heart of the Amwell Valley and Raritan Valley regions, as the South Branch of the Raritan River flows through the center of the township. The northwestern portion of the township is located on the Hunterdon Plateau.

The agency was established in 1976 through a joint powers agreement and today includes 15 cities and portions of the unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County. In addition to the southwestern corner of San Bernardino County, Omnitrans provides service to parts of Riverside and Los Angeles Counties. Omnitrans currently carries about 11 million passengers per year. Omnitrans currently operates fixed route bus service, bus rapid transit and a paratransit service for the disabled, “Access.” Omnitrans operates throughout the urbanized area of southwestern San Bernardino County: south of the San Bernardino Mountains, from Upland, Montclair, and Chino in the west to Redlands, California and Yucaipa in the east.
