As of the census [2] of 2000, there were 659 people, 260 households, and 199 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,218.6 inhabitants per square mile (856.6/km2). There were 304 housing units at an average density of 1,023.4 per square mile (395.1/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 90.74% White, 0.46% African American, 0.46% Native American, 0.61% Asian, 5.61% from other races, and 2.12% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 12.14% of the population.
There were 260 households, out of which 28.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.8% were married couples living together, 5.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.1% were non-families. 18.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 2.87.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 22.3% under the age of 18, 5.2% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 32.8% from 45 to 64, and 13.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
