Jan Gajdoš (27 December 1903, in Brno – 19 November 1945, in Brno) was a Czech gymnast, from the Moravian region of the former Czechoslovakia. He competed in two Olympic Games and five gymnastics World Championships.
His first Olympics was in 1928, where he took silver in the team competition. Switzerland won the competition. Individually, he won no medals, but he finished fourth in the horizontal bar, and eighth in the rings. At the his next Olympics, in 1936, he again won no medals, but the team finished fourth in the team competition.
At the World Championships, he took three golds in the team competition; in 1926, 1930 and 1938. [1] He also took a team silver in 1934. Individually, he took two silver medals in 1926. In 1930, he took overall silver, behind Josip Primožič, and also won bronze in the pommel horse and rings.
In 1934, he won no individual medals, but took sixth place overall. [2] In his last World Championships, in 1938, he won gold both in the individual all-around and floor exercise, as well as top-8 place finishings on 4 of the 5 other apparatuses.
An active member of Sokol organization, during World War II he was an active member of Sokol resistance group. He died shortly after the end of World War II, after being put on a death march by the Nazi Germans. [3]
From 15–16 November 2008, an international gymnastics event was arranged in memory of Gajdoš; Jan Gajdoš Memorial 2008 in Brno. [4]
Jade Fernandes Barbosa is a Brazilian artistic gymnast. She is a two-time bronze medalist at the World Championships, and represented Brazil at the 2008 and 2016 Summer Olympics.
Vlasta Děkanová, a Czechoslovak artistic gymnast, was the first World all-around champion in women's artistic gymnastics.
Romeo Neri was an Italian gymnast. He won three gold medals at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, becoming, along with Helene Madison of United States, the most successful athlete there. He previously won a silver medal at the 1928 Summer Olympics. In 1934 he won a silver medal and a bronze medal at the world championships in Budapest.
The men's pommel horse event was part of the gymnastics programme at the 1928 Summer Olympics. It was one of seven gymnastics events for men and it was contested for the fourth time after 1896, 1904, and 1924. The competition was held on Wednesday, August 8, 1928. Eighty-eight gymnasts from eleven nations competed, with each nation having a team of 8 gymnasts. The event was won by Hermann Hänggi of Switzerland, the nation's second consecutive victory in the pommel horse. The Swiss nearly repeated their 1924 medal sweep, with 4 of the top 5, but Finland's Heikki Savolainen took bronze between silver medalist Georges Miez and fourth-place finisher Edi Steinemann. It was Finland's first medal in the event.
František Erben was a gymnast, trainer, and educator from Bohemia, in what is now the Czech Republic. Erben made his international competitive debut at the 1900 Paris Summer Olympics where he finished in 32nd place.

Josip "Jože" Primožič was a Yugoslavian gymnast of Slovene ethnicity.
Ferdinand Steiner was a gymnast from Bohemia in what is now the Czech Republic.
Denis Mikhailovich Ablyazin is a Russian artistic gymnast. Ablyazin is Olympic Champion 2020 in Tokyo and a seven-time Olympic Games medalist. At the 2012 London Olympics he won silver in vault and bronze in floor. At the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, he won silver with the Russian men's team, a silver in vault and bronze in rings.
Marcel Van Minh Phuc Long Nguyen is a German artistic gymnast and three-time Olympian, having represented Germany at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympic Games. He is the 2012 Olympic silver medalist in the all-around and on parallel bars as well as the 2011 and 2012 European Champion on the latter. He has been a soldier in the Bundeswehr since July 2007, beginning when he was training in the Bundeswehr Sports Development Group in Munich.
Nikita Vladimirovich Nagornyy is a Russian artistic gymnast and two-time Olympian, representing Russia in 2016 and ROC in 2020. He was part of the teams who won gold at the 2020 Olympic Games and 2019 World Championships and silver at the 2016 Olympic Games and 2018 World Championships.
Edvard Antosiewicz was a Slovenian gymnast, competing for Yugoslavia.
Anton Malej also known as Tone Malej, was a Slovenian gymnast, competing for Yugoslavia. He won a bronze medal at the 1928 Summer Olympics.
Boris Gregorka was a Slovenian gymnast, competing for Yugoslavia. He won a bronze medal at the 1928 Summer Olympics. After retiring from competitive career, he was the coach of a double Olympic gold medallist Miroslav Cerar.
Yul Kyung-Tae Moldauer is an American artistic gymnast. He is the 2017 U.S. national all-around champion and the 2017 World bronze medalist on floor exercise. He represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Ahmet Önder is a Turkish artistic gymnast. He represented Turkey at the 2020 Olympic Games. He is the 2019 World silver medalist on the parallel bars.
Illia Yuriyovych Kovtun is a Ukrainian artistic gymnast who competed at the 2020 Olympic Games. He is the 2021 World and European all-around bronze medalist, and is a two-time junior world championships medalist.
Adem Asil is an Egyptian-born Turkish male artistic gymnast. He represented Turkey at the 2020 Olympic Games. He is the 2022 world champion on the still rings.
John Brody Malone is an American artistic gymnast who represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He is the 2022 World Champion on horizontal bar and is the 2021 and 2022 U.S. National Champion. He is a ten-time NCAA National Champion and is the 2021 World Championships bronze medalist on horizontal bar.
Jelica Helena Zoe Vazzaz was a Slovenian-Yugoslavian artistic gymnast. She was a part of the silver-medal-winning Yugoslavian team at the 2nd-ever World Championships at which a women's competition was included. A survivor of World War II concentration camps and political persecution, Vazzaz was a teacher of both academics and gymnastics, the Yugoslavian National Team Coach for over two decades, a top-level international judge, a pioneer of Rhythmic gymnastics, a professor, an author of many monographs and journal articles, and an overall promoter of physical well-being.
