Karl Gillingham (born February 6, 1965) is an American professional strongman and powerlifter.

Strongman career

Karl has been competing in strongman since 1998 and has consistently been ranked in the top five nationally almost every year he has competed. Karl's first contest in strongman was the 1998 America's Strongest Man, which he won. Since that time Karl has traveled the world competing in over 70 top national and international contests including the prestigious World's Strongest Man contest, the IFSA Strongman World Championships, the Arnold Strongman Classic and the Strongman Super Series.

Personal life

Karl is co-owner of Jackal's Gym in Marshall, Minnesota, an elite strength training gym and internet website along with brothers Brad and Wade.

Gillingham's father is Gale Gillingham, former guard for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League. Karl is part of the "first family of strength" along with his father Gale, and brothers Wade and Brad Gillingham.

Giants Live

Giants Live was created in 2009 as the official Tour that qualifies strongmen to compete in the annual World's Strongest Man contest. At each Grand Prix up to twelve international strongman come together and compete over six events. The top 3 at each contest gain an invitation to compete in the World's Strongest Man contest for that same year.

Beauty and the Beast (strongman competition) strongman competition

The Beauty and The Beast Strongman Challenge, also known as the Beauty and The Beast World Strongman Challenge was a short-lived annual strongman competition that was notable for the calibre of the entrants it attracted, as well as for the reputation it attained in a short amount of time.

The World Strongman Challenge was one of the most enduring annual strongmen competitions, running in various guises for twenty years, with only two years break. In that time it attained the position of one of the most prestigious strongman contest in the world, after the World's Strongest Man and the World Muscle Power Classic. As with its two international counterparts it attracted the top quality strength athletes of its era, which included every winner of the World's Strongest Man competition from 1980 onwards including Jón Páll Sigmarsson, Geoff Capes and Bill Kazmaier from the 1980s right up to the current WSM champion Žydrūnas Savickas.

Robert Szczepański Polish strength athlete

Robert Szczepański is a Polish boxer, powerlifter and strongman competitor. Prior to competing in strongman, Szczepański coached boxing and Powerlifting, and in 1993 he won a bronze medal in boxing at the Polish Junior Championships. Robert began competing in strongman in 2002. He has a wife, Magda, and a son Dorian.

Luke Skaarup

Luke Skaarup is a professional engineer and also a retired professional strongman from Canada who competed actively in the sport of strongman from 2007 to 2015. During his competitive career, he held many records, most notably the Canadian record for heaviest atlas stone ever lifted in competition, the Ontario record for heaviest deadlift (780lbs), and the Ontario Record heaviest dumbbell press (230lbs). He competed in over sixty competitions with his top placings being the 2 x Ontario's Strongest Man Champion, 4th at North America's Strongest Man (2014), and 8th at the World Amateur Strongman Championships (2012).
