Early life and education

Serwanga was born in Uganda, 15 minutes after his identical twin brother Wasswa Serwanga, also a former NFL player. [1] His first name, pronounced "Kah-TOE", means "the second twin" in Ugandan. [1] When the twins were 3, their mother Robina helped them escape from Uganda under the regime of Idi Amin, after their father Patrick's brothers were killed. [2]

When they were four, the family moved to Sacramento, California. [3] The two brothers were standout defensive backs for the Sacramento High School Dragons.

He attended the University of California at Berkeley, California State University, Sacramento and the University of the Pacific.

Career

On December 2, 2002, Kerwanga was waived by the Washington Redskins. [4] Two days later, he signed with the New York Giants. [4] On December 8, 2002, he made a game-saving play against the Redskins, knocking the ball out of the Washington receiver's hands with 4:12 left in the game. [4]
