Kirit S. Parikh is Emeritus Professor (on retirement as Director) and Founder Director of Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai, India. He has also served as Senior Economic Advisor to United Nations Development Programme from October 1997 to September 1998. He has been a member of the Economic Advisory Council (EAC) for multiple Prime Ministers of India: Rajiv Gandhi, V.P.Singh, Chandra Shekhar, P.V. Narasimha Rao and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Parikh is a Gujarati. [1] He completed his B.E. in Civil Engineering from Gujarat University, India in 1956. In 1957 he did his M.Tech. (Structures) from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He has a D.Sc. in civil engineering and a master's degree in economics from MIT, USA. [2] He is also a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India. He has been the editor of "India Development Reports" which provide a non-governmental assessment of India's development and policy options. Apart from these, he has been a member of numerous other boards of directors. [2] He has also authored and co-authored more than 15 books in the areas of planning, water resource management, appropriate technology for housing, optimum requirement for fertilizers, energy systems, national and international food policies, trade policies, general equilibrium modeling and natural resources accounting. He has also published numerous articles. [2] The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 2009, for his contributions to public affairs. [3]

He was the chief engineer in the Bikaner state who came up with idea of Rajasthan Canal. He also successfully implemented Ganga canal project. He was considered a dynamite of irrigation engineering of his time. He was born in 1899 in Tohana district Fatehabad (Haryana). He was educated at D.A.V. College, Lahore. He graduated as a civil engineer from Thomason College of Civil Engineering, Roorkee in the year 1927 with hons. He was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1956. He has written a book called -Reminiscences of an engineer. He was chairman of Central Water and Power Commission, Ministry of Irrigation and Power, Government of India. Kanwar sain and Karpov (1967) presented enveloping curves for Indian rivers.

Venkataraman Krishnamurthy was an Indian civil servant. V. Krishnamurthy is known as the "Father of Public sector undertakings in India" for his leadership and successful contribution in turning around Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Maruti Udyog Limited (MUL), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), and GAIL (India) Limited (GAIL) into the most profit making industry in India and globally. He was chairman and CEO of BHEL, MUL, SAIL, and GAIL. Vijay Kumar Saraswat is an Indian scientist who formerly served as the Director General of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Chief Scientific Advisor to the Indian Minister of Defence. The Government of India honoured him, in 2010, with Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award, for his services to the nation.

Shashi Bhushan (1924–2011) was an Indian independence activist, social worker, politician, writer and an institution builder. He was the founder of several organisations such as Rashtriya Ekta Samiti, All India Freedom Fighters' Organisation, Punjab Ekta Samiti and the Institute for Socialist Education, and represented Khargone and South Delhi constituency in the 5th Lok Sabha (1971–1977).

V. Ramachandran (1931–2015) was an Indian civil servant, management expert and the chief secretary of the state of Kerala. He was a member of the Kerala State Planning Board and held the vice-chair of the United Nations Committee on Right to Development from 1980 to 1984. He also served several United Nations agencies such as UNESCAP, UNCHS, United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNESC), and UNDP as a consultant, and was the chairman of the Centre for Management Development, Thiruvanathapuram at the time of his death in 2015. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 2008, for his contributions to Indian civil service.

Defence Research & Development Service (DRDS) is a Central Group 'A' Civil Service of the Government of India. DRDS scientists are Gazetted defence-civilian officers under the Ministry of Defence. They are responsible for developing new technologies and military hardware for the Indian defence and security forces.

Raja Radhika Raman Prasad Sinha (1937–2008) was an Indian civil engineer and a writer of Hindi literature. Born in Patna, in the Indian state of Bihar on May 26, 1937 as the eldest son of Gorakh Prasad and Umraoti Devi couple, Sinha was the pioneer of Hindi fiction and authored several books including The Gandhi Cap and Other Short Stories and Decoding Rig-Veda: For the Knowledge of Science. After his early education at St. Xavier's College, Ranchi, he graduated in electrical engineering from Birsa Institute of Technology Sindri and started his career as a member of faculty at Patna Engineering College. Later he joined the Bihar State Electricity Board where he spent the rest of his career before retiring in 1996 as the general manager of Patna Electric Supply Undertaking (PESU). He was married to Vidya Sinha and the couple had two sons and a daughter. The Government of India awarded him Padma Bhushan, the third highest Indian civilian award, in 1962. The Government of Bihar has instituted an annual award, Raja Radhika Raman Prasad Singh Prize, in his honor. He died on March 2, 2008.
