Kohinoor is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on Kangaroo Island about 137 kilometres (85 miles) south-west of the state capital of Adelaide and about 20 kilometres (12 miles) south-east of the municipal seat of Kingscote. ^{[2] [6]}

Its boundaries were created in March 2002 for the “long established name” which was derived from Kohinoor Hill, a hill located within the locality’s boundaries. ^[2]

Kohinoor is bounded in part by the Playford Highway to the north. ^[2] The principal land use in the locality is primary production. ^{[8] [2]}

Kohinoor is located within the federal division of Mayo, the state electoral district of Mawson and the local government area of the Kangaroo Island Council. ^{[4] [3] [2]}
