The Lagos Police Command is the Lagos State branch of the Nigerian Police Force. It is responsible for law enforcement and crime prevention in the state. The commissioner of this command is often appointed by the Inspector-General of Police. The current commissioner of the state command is CP Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola. [1] [2] The current Public Relations Officer of the Command is SP Benjamin Hundeyin. The Lagos State Police Command has different area commands and zones.

Lagos State University, popularly known as LASU, is a Lagos state government-owned university established in 1983. Its main campus is situated at Ojo, with sub-campuses at Ikeja and Epe. Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala was a Nigerian politician and police officer who served as the governor of Oyo State in 2006, and again from 2007 to 2011. He was the candidate of the Action Democratic Party in the 2019 Oyo State gubernatorial election.

The Nigeria Police Force is the principal law enforcement and the lead security agency in Nigeria. It was designated by the 1999 constitution as the national police of Nigeria, with exclusive jurisdiction throughout the country. As at 2021, it had a staff strength of about 371,800. There are currently plans to increase the force to 650,000, adding 280,000 new recruits to the existing 370,000. The Nigeria Police Force is a very large organisation consisting of 36 State commands and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) grouped into 17 zones and 8 administrative organs. As at July 2024, the NPF is headed by IGP Kayode Egbetokun. In 2020, it underwent major overhauls.

Ahmadu Giade, a retired deputy commissioner of police, was appointed chairman of the Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in November 2005. Police Commissioner Habu Daura was acting Administrator of Bayelsa State, Nigeria, holding office from February to June 1997 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha. In 1999, Nuhu Ribadu, then a legal officer in the Police Force's Intelligence and Investigation Bureau, recommended that Daura be prosecuted for allegedly blocking investigations into cases of armed robbery in 1999. Daura was retired from the police force.
