Ifako-Ijaiye is a city and local government area in Lagos, Nigeria. It has a land area of 43 square kilometers (17 sq mi) and had a population of 427,878 people in 2006.
The Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government was created along with 183 other local governments on October 1, 1996, by General Sani Abacha, the then military head of state. It was carved out of Agege Local Government, with headquarters in Ifako, and predominantly populated by the Egba Yoruba people . [2] [3]
Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government is a border suburb town as it shares border with Ogun State. The major settlements are Ogba-Ijaiye, Ifako, Oke-Ira, Iju-Ishaga, Obawole, Iju-Ogundimu, Fagba, Agege Pen Cinema, Ojokoro [4] among others.
The past leaders of the Local Government are: Engr. Richard Akinpelu (late), Alh. Ma'rufdeen Adeola Adefolabi (late), Hon. Demola Doherty, Hon. (Apostle) Oloruntoba Oke (2011-2014), Hon Akinwunmi Nurudeen Olaitan (2014-2016), Hon Babatunde I.Q. Rajh-Label (2016-2017).
The Former Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, appointed Babatunde I.Q. Rajh-Label as Sole Administrator of the Local Government in June 2016. The election was held on July 22, 2017, throughout the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas of Lagos State. Hon (Apostle) Oloruntoba Oke was elected and sworn in as the Executive Chairman for a second term by the former State Governor, His Excellency, Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode.
The Local Government is at present being led by Hon. (Prince) Usman Akanbi Hamzat as the Executive Chairman, after a local government election held in July 2021.
The city is served by Agbado station, [5] located in the Local Council of Agbado-Oke Odo [6] and part of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit project.

Lagos State is a state in southwestern Nigeria. Of the 36 Nigerian states, it is the second most populous state but the smallest in area. Bounded to the south by the Bight of Benin and to the west by the international border with Benin for 10 km, Lagos State borders Ogun State to the north for about 283 km, making it the only Nigerian state to border only one other state. Named for the city of Lagos—the most populous city in Africa—the state was formed from the Western Region and the former Federal Capital Territory on 27 May 1967.

The Ẹgbado, now Yewa, are a subgroup of the Yoruba people and mostly inhabit the eastern area of Ogun West Senatorial District, Ogun State, in south-west Nigeria, Africa. In 1995, the group's name was changed to Yewa after the Yewa River, the river (odo) they foraged towards. The name of this river is derived from the Yoruba goddess Yewa. Yewa/Ẹgbado mainly occupy four Local Government Areas in Ogun State, Yewa South, Yewa North, Imeko-Afon, and Ipokia, while the Ado-Odo/Ota LGA forms the fifth Awori part of the senatorial district. Other Yewa/Ẹgbado are located in Lagos West, Lagos East, Oyo North, and Oyo South senatorial zones.
The Egba people are a subgroup of the Yoruba people, an ethnic group of western Nigeria, a majority of whom are from the central part of Ogun State, that is Ogun Central Senatorial District.
Alimosho is a Local Government Area in Lagos State, Nigeria with the largest population of about 4,082,900 which is according to Population [2019] – Projection The 2006 Census says the population was 1,288,714.

Adeola Rahman Ipaye is a Nigerian lawyer who served as the deputy chief of staff to the president of Nigeria from 2015 to 2023. He was also attorney general and commissioner for justice in Lagos State from 2011 to 2015.
Oshodi Market was a market located in Oshodi, a suburb of Lagos state, southwestern Nigeria. It was one of the largest markets in the Lagos metropolis although it was claimed, by government officials, to be blighted by criminal activity such as pickpocketing and bag snatching, and the decision was passed to demolish the market. The market was razed in January 2016.
Lateef Oludare Raji was a former adviser on information and strategy to former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola. He was also a commissioner to former Lagos state Governor Bola Tinubu. He was a serving member of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission committee (LASIEC) before his death in 2017.

Oshodi Transport Interchange is located in the Oshodi area of Lagos State, Nigeria. The bus terminal is located between the Lagos-Apapa Expressway and the Agege Motor Road. The Oshodi Bus Terminal is divided into three different terminals called: Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3.
The 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial election was held on 18 March 2023 to elect the Governor of Lagos State, concurrent with elections to the Lagos State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was eligible to run for re-election and was renominated by his party.
James Adisa Owolabi is a businessman and a Nigerian politician serving as the Federal Representative for the Ifako Ijaiye constituency in the 9th Nigerian National Assembly at the House of Representatives. A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Owolabi serves on the Pilgrims Affairs Committee and is its vice chairman until May 2023.
Adewale Oluwatayo (1950–2016) was a member of the House of Representatives representing Lagos' Ifako-Ijaye Federal Constituency. He served as Chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government between 2004 and 2007. He served as a Special Adviser on Education to Lagos State Government from 2009 to 2011.
