Igbobi College is a college established by the Methodist and Anglican Churches in 1932, in the Yaba suburb of Lagos, Lagos State, South-western Nigeria. It is still on its original site and most of the original buildings are intact. It is one of the oldest colleges in Nigeria, and has been the alma mater of a number of well-known Nigerians. In 2001 the school was returned to its original owners by the Bola Tinubu led Lagos state government. [1]

Yaba is a suburb located on Lagos Mainland, Lagos in Lagos State. There are several federal government institutions in the area, which include Queen's College, the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, the Yaba College of Technology, Igbobi College, the University of Lagos, the Federal Science and Technical College, and the Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka. Samuel Ajayi Crowther Anglican bishop in Nigeria

Samuel Ajayi Crowther, was a Yoruba linguist, Sierra Leonean-Nigerian clergyman, and the celebrated first African Anglican bishop of West Africa. Born in Osogun, he and his family were captured by Fulani slave raiders when he was about twelve years old.

Ade Ajayi, was a Nigerian historian and a member of the Ibadan school, a group of scholars interested in introducing African perspectives to African history and focusing on the internal historical forces that shaped African lives. Ade Ajayi favours the use of historical continuity more often than focusing on events only as powerful agents of change that can move the basic foundations of cultures and mould them into new ones. Instead, he sees many critical events in African life, sometimes as weathering episodes which still leave some parts of the core of Africans intact. He also employs a less passionate style in his works, especially in his early writings, using subtle criticism of controversial issues of the times.

Joseph Adefarasin Nigerian judge

Honourable Justice Joseph Adetunji Adefarasin was a Nigerian lawyer and High Court judge. He was one of the foremost students of Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos from 1932 to 1939 and studied law at University of London from 1946 to 1949.Joseph Adefarasin was the Second Chief of Judge of Lagos from 1 November 1974 to 24 November 1985.

Babatunde Fashola Nigerian politician

Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN is a Nigerian lawyer and current Federal Minister of Works and Housing. He served two terms as Governor of Lagos State from May 29, 2007 to May 29, 2015. As a candidate of the Action Congress party, now known as the All Progressives Congress, Fashola succeeded Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on 14 April 2007, and was sworn in on 29 May 2007. Fashola was re-elected on 26 April 2011. On November 11th 2015, he was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari to be the Minister of Power, Works and Housing; he was reappointed Minister of Works & Housing on 21 August 2019.

Mobolaji Johnson Nigerian politician

Mobolaji Olufunso Johnson was a Nigerian Army Brigadier who served as Military Administrator of the Federal territory of Lagos from January 1966 to May 1967 during the military regime of General Aguyi-Ironsi, and then as Governor of Lagos State from May 1967 to July 1975 during the military regime of General Yakubu Gowon. As Governor of Lagos, his administration supervised the unpopular demolition of the Ajele Cemetery in the early 1970s.

Felix Ovudoroye Ibru was a Nigerian architect the first democratically elected Governor of Delta State and Senator for Delta Central Senatorial District. Until his death he held the position of President General of the Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU). As a traditional chieftain of his homeland, Ibru bore the tribal honorific Olorogun and often used it as a pre-nominal style. This title is also borne by many of the members of his large family in the same way.

The CMS Grammar School in Bariga, a suburb of Lagos in Lagos State, is the oldest secondary school in Nigeria, founded on 6 June 1859 by the Church Missionary Society. For decades it was the main source of African clergymen and administrators in the Lagos Colony.

Adeola Rahman Ipaye is a Nigerian lawyer who is currently the "Deputy Chief of Staff" to the President of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari. He was also the former Attorney General of Lagos State among other political posts he has held.
