Layla Eveleen McCarter (born April 19, 1979) is an American professional boxer.
She has held multiple world titles across five weight divisions, having held the WIBF welterweight title since 2018 and previously the IFBA featherweight title in 2000; the WIBF super lightweight title in 2003; the WBA female lightweight title twice between 2007 and 2009; and the WBA female super welterweight title in 2012.
In 2016 January Ring magazine considered Layla McCarter the 10th best female boxer of all time. [1] She was also awarded by the Nevada and California Boxing Hall of Fame, and recently in February 2017 she was signed by Mayweather Promotions, as its second female boxer.
On July 31, 2015, Ronda Rousey's trainer, Edmond Tarverdyan, expressed the belief that his fighter "can win the boxing world title" while discussing a potential fight with Cris Cyborg. [2] After noting that "Ronda spars with boxing world champions that punch way harder than Cyborg", Tarverdyan claimed that she "has never lost a round in the gym. A round. With boxing world champions". [2]
Layla McCarter is the current Big Knockout Boxing female champion and immediately challenged Ronda Rousey to boxing match. [3] [4]
Alongside Amanda Serrano went on to criticize Rousey's stand-up fighting technique stating in the Guardian “She’s very good at what she does, but she needs to stay in her lane because boxing takes a lot of experience to reach the top level.
“She better just stay in her lane because she’s going to get hurt.”. [5] [6]

Alicia Ashley is a Jamaican-American professional boxer who competed from 1999 to 2018. She held the World Boxing Council (WBC) female super bantamweight title twice between 2011 and 2016. Ashley was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2023.

Holly Rene Holm is an American mixed martial artist. She previously competed in the women's Bantamweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where she is a former Women's Bantamweight Champion.
Cecilia Carmen Linda Brækhus is a Colombian-born Norwegian professional boxer and former kickboxer. She reigned as the undisputed female welterweight boxing champion from 2014 to 2020, and is the first woman in any weight class to hold the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO titles simultaneously. Brækhus is also one of only 11 boxers in history, male or female, to hold all four major world titles simultaneously. She also held the IBO title from 2016 to 2020, and is currently the interim WBC super welterweight champion.

Gabriel Rosado is an American professional boxer. He challenged twice for a middleweight world title in 2013. Amanda Serrano is a Puerto Rican professional boxer and mixed martial artist. As a boxer, she is the unified featherweight world champion, having held the WBO title since 2019, IBO title since 2021 and the WBA title since 2023. She held the IBF title between 2022 and 2024. She is the only female, and Puerto Rican, to win world titles in more than four weight classes, and holds the Guinness World Record for the most boxing world championships won in different weight-classes by a female, having held 9 major world titles across seven different weight classes.
While mixed martial arts is primarily a male dominated sport, it does have female athletes. For instance, Female competition in Japan includes promotions such as DEEP Jewels. Now defunct promotions that featured female fighters were Valkyrie, and Smackgirl. Professional mixed martial arts organizations in the United States that invite women to compete are industry leader Ultimate Fighting Championship, the all female Invicta Fighting Championships, Resurrection Fighting Alliance, Bellator Fighting Championships, and Legacy Fighting Championship. Now defunct promotions that featured female fighters were Strikeforce and EliteXC. There has been a growing awareness of women in mixed martial arts due to popular female fighters and personalities such as Amanda Nunes, Megumi Fujii, Gina Carano, Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, Holly Holm, Alexa Grasso, and Joanna Jędrzejczyk and among others. Carano became known as "the face of women's MMA" after appearing in a number of EliteXC events. This was furthered by her appearances on MGM Television's 2008 revival of their game show American Gladiators.
Delfine Persoon is a Belgian professional boxer. She held the IBF female lightweight title in 2012 and the WBC female lightweight title from 2014 to June 2019, losing the title in a unification fight against Katie Taylor for the undisputed lightweight championship. As of September 2020, she is ranked as the world's best active female super-featherweight by BoxRec, the second best active female lightweight by The Ring, and the second best active female, pound for pound, by BoxRec, fifth by The Ring and seventh by ESPN.
Anne Sophie Mathis is a French former professional boxer who competed between 1995 and 2016. She held world titles in two weight division; the WBA female super-lightweight from 2006 to 2008; the WBC female super-lightweight title in 2008; and the WIBF and WIBA welterweight titles in 2011. She also challenged once for the WBO female light-middleweight title in 2014 and the undisputed welterweight title in 2016 against Cecilia Brækhus. She is best known for her knockout win over Holly Holm in 2011 and is considered one of the biggest punchers in the history of women's boxing.

She is a former world champion in two weight classes, having held the undisputed, IBO and Ring female welterweight titles; the WBC female super-lightweight title and the WBA female super-lightweight title. She also challenged for the WBA lightweight title.
Cindy Serrano is a Puerto Rican former professional boxer who held the WBO female featherweight title from 2016 to 2017. She also challenged for the WIBA featherweight title in 2005; the WIBA and WIBF welterweight titles in 2011; and the unified WBA and IBF female lightweight titles in 2018. Her younger sister, Amanda, is also a professional boxer. The pair became the first sisters to hold world titles from major sanctioning bodies at the same time after Cindy captured the WBO title in 2016.
Edmond Tarverdyan is an Armenian mixed martial arts (MMA) trainer who co-owns the Glendale Fighting Club in Glendale, California. He has trained former UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey, Travis Browne, Jake Ellenberger, boxer Art Hovhannisyan and Edmen Shahbazyan.
