Ligurotettix coquilletti, known generally as the desert clicker grasshopper or creosote bush grasshopper, is a species of slant-faced grasshopper in the family Acrididae. As its common name suggests, the species feeds on Larrea tridentata . [1] It is found in Central America and North America, [2] [3] [4] [5] in North America specifically in the Mojave and Sonoran deserts. [1] Males defend individual creosote plants as mating territories, often preferring plants with lower amounts of toxic chemicals. [1]
