In cricket, a batsman reaches a century when he scores 100 or more runs in a single innings. A century is regarded as a landmark score for a batsman, and his number of centuries is generally recorded in his career statistics. [1] The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in Bangladesh which has been held annually since its first season in 2012. [2] Though Following the match fixing scandal, the league was not played in the year 2014. It started again at year 2015, the third season of this tournament. [3] In the ten seasons played, thirty centuries have been made by twenty four different players. [4]

The first century in the BPL was scored in the first match on 10 February 2012 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka by Chris Gayle for Barisal Burners against Sylhet Royals. [5] The highest score in the competition was made by Chris Gayle, who scored 146 runs not out for Rangpur Riders against Dhaka Dynamites. [6] [7] [8] The fastest century in terms of balls was scored by Chris Gayle, who scored 126 runs not out in 51 balls while playing for Ranhpur Riders. [4] The slowest century was scored by Dwayne Smith for Khulna Royal Bengal against Sylhet Royals. He scored his century in 70 balls while his final score was 103 runs not out in 73 balls at a strike rate of 141.09. [4] [9]

The highest number of centuries have been scored by Chris Gayle with five centuries. [4]

Among the twenty-five centuries only six of them are made by the player of the hosting country. Nineteen centuries has been scored by the foreigner players with twelve from West Indies players.

Mohammad Ashraful, Shahriar Nafees and Faf du Plessis are the only players to score a century while captaining their team. Ashraful was the captain of Dhaka Gladiators side while Nafees was the captain of Khulna Royal Bengal and Faf du Plessis captaining Comilla Victorians. [10] [11] 2019 BPL, also known as BPL6 has seen the most number of centuries. Six centuries had been scored on that season. While 2015 and 2016 has the lowest number of centuries with one each. [4]

Shuvagata Hom Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi cricketer, a right-handed batsman who represents Dhaka Division in first-class and list A cricket and Rajshahi Division in twenty20 matches. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for Bangladesh in 2011 against Zimbabwe at Harare. He made his Test match debut against the West Indies in September 2014. He made his Twenty20 International debut for Bangladesh against Zimbabwe on 15 January 2016.

The 2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League Final was a day/night Twenty20 cricket played between Khulna Tigers Rajshahi Royals on 17 January 2020 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka to determine the winner of the 2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League, a special edition of professional Twenty20 cricket league in Bangladesh. Rajshahi Royals won the match by 21 runs as they won their first-ever BPL title.

The Bangladesh Premier League 2022, also known as BPL Season 8 or Bangabandhu BPL 2022 presented by BBS Cables and powered by Walton, was the eighth season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the top-level professional Twenty20 cricket league in Bangladesh, organized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The season was scheduled to start from March 2021. However, the tournament was postponed and rescheduled to be held from 21 January to 18 February 2022.

The 2022 Bangladesh Premier League Final was a day/night Twenty20 cricket played between Fortune Barishal and Comilla Victorians on 18 February 2022 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka to determine the winner of the 2021–22 Bangladesh Premier League, a professional Twenty20 cricket league in Bangladesh. Comilla Victorians won the final by 1 run to win their third BPL title.
