Tom Tykwer is a German film director, producer, screenwriter, and composer. He is best known internationally for directing the thriller films Run Lola Run (1998), Heaven (2002), Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006), and The International (2009). He collaborated with The Wachowskis as co-director for the science fiction film Cloud Atlas (2012) and the Netflix series Sense8 (2015–2018), and worked on the score for Lana Wachowski's The Matrix Resurrections (2021). Tykwer is also well known as the co-creator of the internationally acclaimed German television series Babylon Berlin (2017–).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Teddy Award</span> LGBT film award of the Berlin International Film Festival

The Teddy Award is an international film award for films with LGBT topics, presented by an independent jury as an official award of the Berlin International Film Festival. For the most part, the jury consists of organisers of gay and lesbian film festivals, who view films screened in all sections of the Berlinale; films do not have to have been part of the festival's official competition stream to be eligible for Teddy awards. Subsequently, a list of films meeting criteria for LGBT content is selected by the jury, and a 3,000-Euro Teddy is awarded to a feature film, a short film and a documentary.

She has also starred in the American TV series Homeland (2014–2017), The Defeated (2020), and Jack Ryan (2022).

The Berlin International Film Festival, usually called the Berlinale, is an annual film festival held in Berlin, Germany. Founded in 1951 and originally run in June, the festival has been held every February since 1978 and is one of Europe's "Big Three" film festivals alongside the Venice Film Festival held in Italy and the Cannes Film Festival held in France. Furthermore, it is one of the "Big Five", the most prestigious film festivals in the world. The festival regularly draws tens of thousands of visitors each year.

Mohammad Rasoulof is an Iranian independent filmmaker who lives in exile in Europe. He is known for several award-winning films, including The Twilight (2002), Iron Island (2005), Goodbye (2011),Manuscripts Don't Burn (2013), A Man of Integrity (2017) and There Is No Evil (2020). For the latter, he won the Golden Bear at the 2020 Berlin Film Festival.

The European Film Award for Best Documentary or Prix Arte has been awarded annually since 1989 by the European Film Academy. Special Mentions were presented alongside the winner of the award until 1993, since 1999 a set of nominees are presented out of which a winner is chosen.

The Golden Bear for the Best Short Film is the most important award in the short film competition of the Berlin International Film Festival.

<i>Crossing</i> (2024 film) 2024 film

Crossing is a 2024 drama film written and directed by Levan Akin. It stars Mzia Arabuli, Lucas Kankava and Deniz Dumanlı. The film was selected in the Panorama section at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival, where it had its world premiere on 15 February 2024. It was released in Sweden on 22 March 2024, by TriArt Film. It fetched the IFFI ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal at the 55th International Film Festival of India.

<i>No Other Land</i> 2024 Palestinian documentary film

No Other Land is a 2024 documentary film directed by Basel Adra, Hamdan Ballal, Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor in their directorial debut. The film was made by a Palestinian-Israeli collective of four activists in what they describe as an act of resistance on the path to justice during the ongoing conflict in the region.

The 75th annual Berlin International Film Festival, usually called the Berlinale, will take place between 13 and 23 February 2025 in Berlin, Germany. American filmmaker Todd Haynes was named the Jury President for the main competition. It will mark the first edition of Tricia Tuttle as the festival's artistic director following Carlo Chatrian and Mariette Rissenbeek's dismissal in 2024.

<i>The Light</i> (2025 film) 2025 film directed by Tom Tykwer

The Light is an upcoming drama film written, directed by Tom Tykwer, and starring Lars Eidinger and Nicolette Krebitz depicts everyday life of a middle-class Engels family in a world that has become unstable. The German-French co-production also have Elke Biesendorfer, Julius Gause and Elyas Eldridge in pivotal roles. The film will premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival in Special Gala section on 13 February 2025 and later will be released on 20 March 2025 in German theatres by X Verleih.

<i>Dreams</i> (2024 film) 2025 Norwegian drama film

Dreams (Norwegian: Drømmer), also known as Dreams (Sex Love), is a 2024 Norwegian drama film written and directed by Dag Johan Haugerud. After Sex and Love, it is the third part of a trilogy by Haugerud that deals with the complexity of human relationships, sexuality and social norms. The film, starring Ella Øverbye as Johanne and Selome Emnetu as French teacher, depicts Johanne's intimate writings about her crush on her female teacher, which ignite both tension and self-reflection within her family, as her mother and grandmother confront their own unfulfilled dreams and desires.

<i>Mothers Baby</i> 2025 Austrian thriller film

Mother's Baby is an upcoming thriller film co-written and directed by Johanna Moder. The film follows Julia, a 40-year-old woman, whose dream of having her own family turns into a nightmare, as she struggles to build a bond with her newborn child.

What Marielle Knows is an upcoming German drama film written and directed by Frédéric Hambalek. The film follows Julia and Tobias, who discover that their daughter Marielle has suddenly developed telepathic abilities and can see and hear everything they do.

Our Wildest Days is an upcoming drama film directed by Vasilis Kekatos in his debut feature. The film follows Chloe, who leaves her family behind and joins a group of teenagers crossing Greece.

Houses is an upcoming drama film written and directed by Veronica Nicole Tetelbaum in her debut feature. Starring Yael Eisenberg as Sasha, the film revolves around her. She is a non-binary and came to Israel from the Soviet Union as a child in the 1990s.
