The National Student Organization of American Football is the major college football league in Mexico.
Pumas CU UNAM, also known as "Pumas Dorados", "Pumas", or "Universidad" is the varsity American football team representing the National Autonomous University of Mexico. It is one of the oldest and most important teams in Mexico. They maintain a fierce rivalry with teams from the National Polytechnic Institute particularly with its Miguel Hidalgo-based team from Santo Tomás, Águilas Blancas.
Águilas Blancas, also known as Politécnico when representing the entirety of National Polytechnic Institute, founded as Águilas Blancas de la ESCA-ESIQIE, is a Mexican college football team based in the Casco de Santo Tomas neighborhood of Mexico City, Mexico. Águilas Blancas participate in the Green Conference as part of the National Student Organization of American Football (ONEFA). It is one of the most successful college football teams in Mexico having won five national championships throughout their history. They maintain a fierce rivalry with teams from the National Autonomous University of Mexico particularly with its Coyoacán based team from Ciudad Universitaria, Pumas Dorados de la UNAM.
Aztecas UDLAP is the name of the sports teams that represent the Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP).
The Borregos Salvajes ITESM is the name of all the cultural, artistic and sports teams that represent the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM) in various disciplines, such as sports, theatre, music and leadership representatives. The name of is derived from official mascot of the institution: the bighorn ram.
The Borregos Salvajes Monterrey team represents the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in the sport of American football. The Borregos Salvajes are one of the most successful programs in Mexico, having won 15 National Titles, including five back to back from 2004 to 2008, being the only team to achieve such fate.
Gijón Mariners is an American football team based in Gijón, Asturias (Spain).
Estadio Borregos, also referred to as Estadio Banorte for sponsorship reasons, is a multi-purpose stadium in Monterrey, Mexico. It is the home stadium for the college football team Borregos Salvajes Monterrey of the ONEFA and the professional American football team Fundidores de Monterrey from the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional. The stadium was inaugurated in April 2019 and seats 10,057 spectators.
The 2020 LFA season was the fifth season of the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA), the top American football league in Mexico. The regular season began on February 8 and was to conclude on April 26, with the playoffs beginning on May 1 and ending with the Tazón México V on May 17. Nevertheless, after week 5, on March 16, the LFA announced the suspension of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic and on 29 March 2020 the league confirmed that the season was cancelled.
The Auténticos Tigres UANL team represents the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL) in college football. The Auténticos Tigres compete in the Jacinto Licea Conference, ONEFA's top division.
The Borregos Salvajes CEM, or simply Borregos CEM, was an American football team representing the State of Mexico campus of the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM). The Borregos Salvajes competed in the ONEFA and later in the Conferencia Premier CONADEIP. In 2016, ITESM authorities decided to merge its three Greater Mexico City college football programs into one new team named Borregos Salvajes México, thus, ending the Borregos CEM program.
The Cóndores UNAM, was one of the three American football teams that represented the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) from 1970 to 1997. The Cóndores competed in the ONEFA and won 10 National Championships, including four in a row from 1983 to 1986.
The Borregos Salvajes Toluca, or simply Borregos Toluca, team represented the Toluca campus of the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM) in college football from 1995 to 2021. The Borregos Toluca last competed in the Jacinto Licea Conference, ONEFA's top division.
Bruno Daniel Márquez Albarrán is a Mexican professional gridiron football quarterback for Raptors de Naucalpan of the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA). He played college football with Pumas CU before joining the LFA, where he was named league MVP in 2017 and 2019. He has also appeared for the Mexico national team, most notably at the 2011 IFAF World Championship.
Héctor Andrés Zepeda Hernández is a Mexican gridiron football offensive lineman who played college football at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM), where he won two national championships. He was selected to participate in the National Football League (NFL)'s International Player Pathway Program (IPPP) in 2022 and 2023. Zepeda was also drafted by the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL) in the first round of the 2022 CFL Global Draft.
Enrique Gerardo Yenny Romero is a Mexican professional gridiron football kicker for the Reyes de Jalisco of the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA). He played college football with ITESM Toluca, winning a national championship in 2017.
Rodrigo Pérez Ojeda is a Mexican gridiron football coach and former quarterback who is the current head coach of the Linces UVM. Nicknamed "Goofy", he played college football with the Aztecas UDLAP, earning back-to-back ONEFA Most Valuable Player awards in 2005 and 2006. He is considered one of the best quarterbacks in Mexican history.
Rafael Duk Delgado is a Mexican gridiron football coach and former player who is the current head coach of the Burros Blancos IPN. He played college football with the Pieles Rojas IPN, winning an ONEFA national championship in 1989. As a head coach, Duk won the 2000 ONEFA national championship with the Borregos Salvajes CEM before leading the Mexicas CDMX to a win in Tazón México III in 2018.
The Leones Anáhuac Cancún represents the Universidad Anáhuac Cancún (UAC) in college football. The Leones compete in the Conferencia Nacional of ONEFA and have won two Conferencia Nacional Championships: in 2009 and 2019. The team plays in the Estadio Coliseo Maya and is coached by Jorge Jiménez Aréchiga.
Juan Alberto Wong Borunda is a Mexican gridiron football coach and former wide receiver who is the current head coach of the Borregos Salvajes Laguna juvenile (under-18) team. He played college football with the Borregos Salvajes Laguna before signing with the Dallas Desperados of the Arena Football League in 2004. Wong played in NFL Europe for two seasons, appearing for the Rhein Fire, the Frankfurt Galaxy, and the Hamburg Sea Devils, before participating in New York Jets training camp in 2007.
