Main characters

Marinette Dupain-Cheng (voiced by Cristina Vee in the English dub, [1] [2] [3] and by Anouck Hautbois in the French version with singing voice in the film by Lou in both versions) is the female protagonist of the series and a French-Chinese 14-year-old student at Françoise Dupont High School (Collège Françoise Dupont). Marinette is a talented fashion designer. Marinette is deeply in love with Adrien Agreste, to whom she can barely speak to out of nervousness. She later develops romantic attraction for Luka Couffaine, but they break up and decide to remain friends. When she loses the Miraculous to Monarch, she tries to stop loving Adrien so she won't get distracted in defeating Monarch but later begins a romantic relationship with Adrien. Using the Ladybug Miraculous, Marinette can transform into the superheroine "Ladybug". When she becomes the Guardian, Ladybug has the ability to give other characters Miraculouses through her yo-yo.
Adrien Agreste (voiced by Bryce Papenbrook in the English dub, [4] [2] [3] and Benjamin Bollen in the French version with singing voice in the film by Drew Ryan Scott in the English dub and Elliott in the French version) is the male protagonist of the series and Marinette's crush, although he is oblivious to that and only sees Marinette as a friend at the beginning. Adrien comes from a wealthy family and is a popular fashion model for the clothing company of his father Gabriel, but he laments his father's distant relationship. [lower-alpha 1] Using the Cat Miraculous, Adrien can transform into "Cat Noir", Ladybug's partner. [5] [lower-alpha 2] [lower-alpha 3] As both Cat Noir and Adrien, he has a deep romantic attraction for Ladybug, unaware that she is Marinette. He temporarily has a relationship with Kagami Tsurugi and keeps a good friendship even after breaking up. He later lets go of his crush on Ladybug and falls in love with Marinette and starts dating Marinette. He is later revealed to be a Human-Sentimonster created by his mother with the emotion of love and his amok is in the Graham de Vanily Twin Rings. [6]
Tikki (voiced by Mela Lee in the English dub [7] [2] and Marie Nonnenmacher in the French version) is the Kwami of Creation who resides within the Ladybug Miraculous, a pair of earrings that Marinette uses to transform into Ladybug. Tikki is a positive and serious Kwami, who believes strongly in Marinette and she gives her advice to be the best that she can be, regardless of transformation. [5] She is more than 13 billion years old and has watched over every Ladybug since the beginning, one of her Miraculous's previous owners being Joan of Arc. [lower-alpha 4]
Plagg (voiced by Max Mittelman in the English dub [8] [2] and Thierry Kazazian in the French version) is the Kwami of Destruction who enables Adrien to transform into Cat Noir. Plagg looks much like Tikki, but with a black body, green eyes, and pointed ears, resembling a black cat. Unlike Tikki, however, Plagg is sarcastic and lazy. Although he cares for Adrien, he is less invested in his problems and often gives wrong or destructive advice. His favorite food is camembert, which he is shown to have an obsession for. [5] During Adrien's transformation as Cat Noir, he inhabits the Cat Miraculous, a ring worn by Adrien on his right hand.
Gabriel Agreste (born Gabi Grassette; voiced by Keith Silverstein in the English dub [9] [2] [10] and Antoine Tomé in the French version [11] ) was a famous fashion designer, and Adrien's strict, and emotionally abusive father. He served as the main antagonist of the first five seasons, his motives being to obtain Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses so he can use their combined power to restore his comatose wife Emilie. He used the Butterfly Miraculous to transform into the supervillain " Hawk Moth ". In the fourth season, he became "Shadow Moth" by unifying the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculouses, allowing him to use the ability of Amokization as well and later makes Megakumas that can nullify Ladybug's Magical Charms. In the fifth season, after getting his hands on every other Miraculous in the Miracle Box by giving the Peacock to Félix, he upgraded into a new form called " Monarch ". [12] After losing the Rabbit Miraculous to the heroes and being inflicted with a Cataclysm-induced necrosis, Gabriel establishes a partnership with Tomoe Tsurugi to set up the Alliance System, where he remolded the Miraculous jewels into his personal Alliance Rings, smart rings that allow him to channel a Miraculous' power to a villain using the Alliance System. In his final battle with Ladybug, Monarch learns her identity but is robbed of the Butterfly Miraculous in the process. Realizing that he ruined Adrien's life, he stole the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous from her and decided to respect his wife's wishes, sacrificing his life to save Nathalie; this recreates the universe and allows Marinette to recover all of the Miraculouses.
In Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie , Hawk Moth's plans are still intact. Unlike the TV series version, this one surrendered upon learning that Adrien is Cat Noir. After surrendering the Butterfly Miraculous to Ladybug and Cat Noir, Gabriel turned himself in for his crimes as Hawk Moth.
Lila Rossi / Cerise Bianca / Iris Verdi (voiced by Lisa Kay Jennings in the English dub [13] and Clara Soares in the French version) is a recurring antagonist for the first four seasons, the secondary antagonist of the fifth season and the main antagonist of the upcoming sixth season, a compulsive liar who craves attention and uses dishonest means to get it while acting under false identities and exploiting numerous families. She is first introduced in her false identity as "Lila Rossi", an Italian diplomat's daughter, and becomes one of Ms. Bustier's students. She has a vendetta against Ladybug for calling her out on her lie of them being friends to get close to Adrien, and later Marinette for trying to inform their classmates. To this end, having secretly deduced Hawk Moth's identity, Lila eventually partners with Gabriel to keep tabs on Adrien as a means to akumatize those she manipulates, and later joins forces with Chloé as well. Gabriel also used Lila as a scanned model alongside Adrien to create the virtual assistants in his Alliance Rings. But when Gabriel terminates their agreement, Lila decides to acquire blackmail on Gabriel in retaliation before being forced to transfer to another school under the alias "Cerise Bianca" after being exposed as a fraud in Collège Françoise Dupont. She later manipulates Chloé into becoming acting mayor of Paris when her father steps down and accepts Monarch's offer to run the city her way, only to abandon her the moment she has Tomoe's tablet with access to the Alliance System. After Gabriel's demise, she seizes the Butterfly Miraculous and attends Marinette and Adrien's high school as "Iris Verdi" as a lightning ball appears behind her leaving her fate unknown. She akumatises herself into "Timestalker" and "Spectral Looter" to learn Ladybug's identity and steal all the Miraculous. She then make a wish that would have reconfigured the universe in ways that had never happened before. However, her efforts were thwarted by Chronobug and Bunnyx, who prevented her from discovering the former's identity. [14]
