Miss Universe 1959, Akiko Kojima
Arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 15, 1959 in a series of personal appearances. She waved cheerfully to the crowd waited for her at Subang Airport. Her visit was sponsored by mr K. C. Lee of Max Factor Cosmetic and Mr. Gan Yit Loong of Hong Bee Textile (Malaya) which was the main sponsor for Miss Japan contest and also Shaw Brothers. Her KL visit marked the first time Miss Universe winner ever set foot on Malayan soil. [78]

Miss Universe 2017, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters
Came to Kuala Lumpur for the launch of the MUCA brand facial skin care product which is also one of the sponsor in the Miss Universe 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand. [86] Former Miss Universe Malaysia 2011, Deborah Henry and national director of Miss Universe Malaysia, Elaine Daly were there to accompany Demi-Leigh.
Malaysia was selected by the Miss Universe organization to be the host country twice in Miss Universe 1976 and Miss Universe 1990 but due to the lack of supports from the Malaysian government and the private sector during the year, therefore hampered the efforts of all parties involved to make it a reality. The pageants then changed to a new place which were British Hong Kong in 1976 and California, USA in 1990. [90]

Miss Malaysia Universe 1989, the 23rd edition of the Miss Universe Malaysia, was held on 19 March 1989 at the Hyatt Saujana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Carmen Swee of Penang was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Linda Lum of Johor at the end of the event. She then represented Malaysia at the Miss Universe 1989 pageant in Cancun, Mexico.
Miss Malaya 1954, was held on 28 June 1954 at the Capitol Theatre, Singapore. 21 candidates from across Malaya and Singapore and 3 candidates from Sarawak participated in this year's competition. Most of the candidates were nominated by various organisations such as Qantas Boac, Fortune Advertising Ltd., Robinson and Co. Ltd., Malayan Airways, Shewan Tomes and more but individual entries were also welcomed to compete in the pageant. The prizes of the pageant were a free trip to America, a trip to Hong Kong, and a trip either to Penang or Singapore.
Miss Malaysia 1963, the first edition of the Miss World Malaysia pageant was held on 23 April 1963, at the Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur. 30 candidates from all across Federation, Singapore and Borneo were expected to compete but only 11 candidates were chosen to compete in the grand finale while the remainder will be taking part in a fashion tableau in conjunction of the contest.
