List of children's book series

A children's book series is a set of fiction books, written specifically for child readers. Most books have with a connected storyline, filled with a setup of intertwining elements for the reader to follow along in the progressing plot. However, some children's book series are self-contained in each installment but they still establish an integral set of characters to carry the narrative.

Young adult fiction (YA) is fiction written for readers from 12 to 18 years of age. The term YA was first used regularly in the 1960s in the United States. The YA category includes most of the genres found in adult fiction, with themes that include friendship, sexuality, drugs and alcohol, and sexual and gender identity. Stories that focus on the challenges of youth may be categorized as problem novels or coming-of-age novels. The boundary between children's and adult literature is flexible, subject to moral and political ideology, and in some cases meaningless.

A book series is a sequence of books having certain characteristics in common that are formally identified together as a group. Book series can be organized in different ways, such as written by the same author, or marketed as a group by their publisher.

Jonathan Anthony Stroud is a British writer of fantasy fiction, best known for the Bartimaeus young adult sequence and Lockwood & Co. children's series. His books are typically set in an alternative history London with fantasy elements, and have received note for his satire, and use of magic to reflect themes of class struggle. The Bartimaeus sequence is the recipient of the Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire and Mythopoeic Fantasy Awards. Stroud's works have also been featured on ALA Notable lists of books for children and young adults. In 2020, Netflix announced a TV series based on Lockwood & Co., with filming initiated in July 2021.

Cryptid Hunters is a 2005 young adult science fiction novel by Roland Smith; it follows the adventures of thirteen-year-old siblings Grace and Marty O'Hara, who are sent to live with their Uncle Wolfe after their parents are lost in an accident. He is an anthropologist on a remote island, searching for cryptids, which are animals thought to be extinct or not to exist. His rival Noah Blackwood, a popular animal collector, tries to acquire an alleged dinosaur egg from Wolfe, and the twins get involved in the conflict which reveals a convoluted family history. The novel was nominated for several library awards and book lists, which include Hawaii's 2008 Nene Recommended Book List, the Texas Library Association's 2007-2008 Lone Star Reading List, and Third Place for the Missouri Association of School Librarians' Mark Twain Readers Award. Smith has written three sequels called Tentacles, Chupacabra, and Mutation.

This service is a fundamental library service; however, readers' advisory also occurs in commercial contexts such as bookstores. Currently, almost all North American public libraries offer some form of readers' advisory.

The COOL Awards is an annual children's choice award voted on by students in Canberra, the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Children are encouraged to read and vote for their favourite books. The votes are tallied and the awards made.

One Came Home is a children's historical novel set in Wisconsin during 1871. It was written by Amy Timberlake and published by Knopf in 2013. One Came Home is a winner of the Edgar Award for Best Juvenile Mystery and a Newbery Honor award in 2014. This book was published by Random House Children's Books on January 7, 2014. Along with the Edgar Award and a Newbery Honor, One Came Home, was named best book of the year by the Washington Post, Kirkus Reviews, Bookpage, Bank Street, and National Public Radio. It was also a part of the Scholastic Book Club selection.

Amy Timberlake is an American author of five children's books: One Came Home, That Girl Lucy Moon, The Dirty Cowboy, Skunk and Badger and Egg Marks the Spot. One Came Home was awarded the Newbery Honor and the Edgar Award. That Girl Lucy Moon was awarded by the Friends of American Writer's Literacy, and The Dirty Cowboy has received a Parent's Choice Gold Medal and won the 2004 Golden Kite Award.

Arup Kumar Datta is an Indian writer and Journalist from Guwahati, Assam. He has written 18 books for adults and 17 adventure novels for young people. In 2014 he was awarded the Life Time Achievement Honour by Association of Writers and illustrators for Children, New Delhi, the Indian chapter of the International Board of Books for Young People. He has also won numerous awards including the Shankar's Award in 1979, conferred to mark The International Year of the Child. He has been awarded the civilian award Padma Shri by Government of India in 2018.
