The 2018 Winter Olympics, officially known as the XXIII Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as PyeongChang 2018, was an international winter multi-sport event that was held between 9 and 25 February 2018 in Pyeongchang County, Gangwon Province, South Korea, with the opening rounds for certain events held on 8 February 2018, the day before the opening ceremony.

Asia League Ice Hockey

Asia League Ice Hockey or ALIH (AL) is an association which operates a professional ice hockey league based in North and East Asia, with seven teams from Japan, Russia, and South Korea. The league is headquartered in Japan. At the end of the playoffs every year the winner is awarded the Championship Trophy.

Chinese Taipei mens national ice hockey team

The Chinese Taipei national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The team is controlled by the Chinese Taipei Ice Hockey Federation and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Chinese Taipei is currently ranked 46th in the IIHF World Ranking and competes in the IIHF World Championship Division III.

Ireland mens national ice hockey team

The Irish national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of the Republic of Ireland run by the Irish Ice Hockey Association and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) since 26 September 1996.

North Korea mens national ice hockey team

The North Korean national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and represent the country in IIHF competition. They withdrew from the 2007 World Championships, and therefore were automatically relegated to Division III in the 2008 edition, where they finished first. They then played in Division II during the 2009 edition, and finished last bringing them back down to Division III for 2010. They are currently ranked 41st in the IIHF World Rankings.

Field hockey at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing was held over a fourteen-day period beginning on 10 August, and culminating with the medal finals on 22 and 23 August. All games were played at the hockey field constructed on the Olympic Green.

South Korea mens national ice hockey team

The South Korean national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of the Republic of Korea. They are currently ranked 16th in the IIHF World Rankings and competed in the World Championship top division tournament. The team's most successful campaign thus far was a second-place finish in the 2017 Division I Group A tournament and thus qualifying for the top division in 2018. They competed in their first Winter Olympics in 2018 in Pyeongchang as the host nation.

Morocco mens national ice hockey team

The Moroccan national ice hockey team is the men's national ice hockey team of Morocco. The team is controlled by the Royal Moroccan Ice Hockey Federation and has been an associate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The team's home rink is in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.

The Kuwaiti national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of Kuwait. They are controlled by the Kuwait Ice Hockey Association and has been an associate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Kuwait is currently not ranked in the IIHF World Rankings and have not entered in any World Championships, but have played in the Challenge Cup of Asia, a regional tournament for lower-tier hockey nations in Asia. They made their debut at the 2018 World Championship Division III Qualification tournament.

Georgia mens national ice hockey team

The Georgian men's national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of Georgia, and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) since 8 May 2009. As of May 2018, Georgia is ranked 40th in the World Ranking. Georgia first played in the World Championships tournament in 2013, and remained at Division III level until winning at that level in 2018 and earning a promotion to Division II Group B.

South Korea competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, from 9 to 25 February 2018, as the host nation. It was represented by 122 competitors in all 15 disciplines.

2018 IIHF World Championship

The 2018 IIHF World Championship was an international ice hockey tournament hosted by the Danish cities of Copenhagen and Herning. The IIHF announced the winning bid on 23 May 2014. South Korea made its debut at the World Championship, having played in the lower divisions previously.

The Philippine national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of the Philippines. The team is controlled by the Federation of Ice Hockey League (FIHL) and has been associate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The Philippines is currently not ranked in the IIHF World Ranking and have never entered in any World Championship tournaments or at any Olympic Games, but have played in the Challenge Cup of Asia, a regional tournament for lower-tier hockey nations in Asia.

This is a chronological summary of the major events of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang County, South Korea. Two events, the curling mixed doubles tournament and the men's normal hill ski jumping competition, held their preliminary rounds on 8 February. The opening ceremony took place one day later on 9 February. The last day of competition and the closing ceremony was on 25 February.

The People's Republic of China competed at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from 18 August to 2 September 2018. China won 289 medals, leading the medal count for the tenth time in Asian Games history.
