Sophia Gardens is a cricket ground in Cardiff, Wales, it was established in 1967 and currently has a capacity of 15,643. [1] The ground has hosted 3 Test matches, the first of these was played in 2009 between England and Australia in the first Ashes Test. [2] Sophia Gardens has also staged 17 One Day Internationals (ODIs), the first was played between Australia and New Zealand in the 1999 Cricket World Cup. [3]

Nine Test centuries have been scored at the venue. The first of 9 Test centuries made at the ground was scored by the Australian Simon Katich against England in 2009. The South-African born Englishman Jonathan Trott holds the record for the highest Test innings at Sophia Gardens. Trott's innings of 203, scored in 2011, was also the first and only double century at the ground up to date. Nobody has scored more than one century at the ground to date. [4]

Seven ODI centuries have been scored at the ground, the first was by the Bangladeshi Mohammad Ashraful in 2005 against Australia, during their historic win against the Aussies. The Englishman Jason Roy holds the record for the highest ODI innings at the ground, when he scored 120 against Australia in June 2018. This is the only century made by an Englishman to date. [5]
